360 owner coming to the PS3...

Guys, I have been a staunch 360 supporter since its launch. However, I am now on my 3 rd XBOX 360 and quite frankly have had enough. When I size up the two consoles, the PS3 simply offers more bang for your buck. Is the PS3 a good system? What games should I start out with? How about BluRay movies?

Well you're right, no matter how you look at it, it does offer more, especially in the future.

Very reliable system, many good games coming out, notable ones include:

Lair, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Ratchet and Clank 5, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Killzone 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, an eventual Zone of the Enders 3, and more that I'm too lazy to list.

PS3 is a great system and just keeps getting better each month.

What games to start out with? Depends on what you prefer. Seems like you like shooters, so Resistance would be a must-buy if that's the case. Seeing Heavenly Sword on there, I'd say Ninja Gaiden Sigma is probably the closest to that gameplay and will be out July 3rd if you haven't played Ninja Gaiden or Ninja Gaiden Black. However, if you haven't played the God of War games you should pick up both since that's extremely similar gameplay.

Blu-Ray Movies. Head over to highdefdigest.com and check out their reviews of them to see which ones are worth it. I have Black Hawk Down, Goodfellas, and Talledega Nights. I'd definately recommend Black Hawk Down if you have a half decent surround sound set-up.

i could easily argue with the most of you guys with the ps3 but i dont feel like starting over something obvious.

Its too bad you had that bad luck with the 360 though, 3 360s? man thats pretty bad, i'm still on my first one.

PS3 does have alot of potential, but so far, the system is bogus, all ps3 owners can do is brag about blu-ray, and most of the games arent exclusive as they used to be, Sony shouldve never game microsoft the year extra to work out the glitches and such.

But i could see your reason to switch systems, 3 360s is just ridiculous

The Ps3 is an overall pretty good system, offering a bunch of genres as well as a more mature community. (I guess?)

The online system isnt that great, i wish they had something to offer such as achievements that make you go beyond just playing the game.

Good games to buy are Resistance, and well everything on the top rated games on the list here on GS. I cant really name too much good games for the ps3.

And i'm not gonna get my hopes high for the "380" games that are to come within the next months, not all of them will be shipped to america and most of them arent going to that great.

I've owned both consoles since their respective launches here in Europe and I have to say I prefer the PS3, its a Solid, quiet and reliable system with a great array of games on the horizon.

I too am ticked off at the 360's problem ratio, as I am due to recieve my 3'rd console soon.

Anyways, the problem with motorstorm is that there is NO storyline, just straight exibition racing, it does have some nice graphics though, but so does diRt, but it isnt as arcadish.

with new games soon to come out.. Home to come out.. i don't think we should be disappointed

i own both systems dude and when it comes down to it i like game, doesnt matter which system.

on 360 launch me and 3 other friends got the 360. out of us 4, 3 of us had to send it in for repairs. i like the 360, and i think live is pretyt cool....on the other hand ps3 online is free and no too bad.

that aside, i am very dissapointed when it comes to games...i mean i understand teh ps3 is still pretty new, but where are the games? i barely jsut got my first game, which is resistence. i got it because i found it online for only 30 bucks.

when it comes to bluray movies, i love it. i like the fact that i dont have to buy a separate hd-dvd add on, and i am also glad i dont have to spend 100 bucks on a wireless adapter.

all in all, i think BOTH systems are very good, and im glad to own them both.

Xbox sucks plain and simple red ring of death ahaha use the towel method lol like that works.Ps3 is the way to go for future big name games and to start out with a game get resistance fall of man. wait for the new madden get heavenly sword, brothers in arms hells highway, gta,killzone2,re5,mgs4,ffxiii,cod modern warfare,elder scrolls is a must,the list goes on and on.voxxes

If u want to talk about Xbox live - then do so... the 360 has that on ps3...

I don't care thou, the psn has all the same features that live does in basic form... and the number one basic form is... to play with other people........... Online... So u can have all your bells and whistle online... Cuzz... my online works too...

Although ... I can probably use my online function more because my ps3 is in front of me and no at Microsoft's shop getting a new heat sink ...........lol

Resistance - it's a good solid game... Fun for hours ... story line is good and graphics

Oblivion - Well... if u are an RPG fan... Yes Oblivion is best served ps3ized. This game is a must have

Godfather - Now if u like grand theft auto... this game is simular but mafia style... and fun.... Six axis included - Not recommend for kids thought...

Motor Storm - Good game... GREAT graphics..!.. As to date.... I like this game

Armoured core - If u have been with the core like I have since the beginning... youll once again waist hours of your life making your mech look like an episdoe of pimp my ride HD style...ITS GREAT... loves it!

Tekken dark Ress - Easy to get and cheap $20! Great fighting game - just have to download it -

- Ps3 can also act as a media server - which means u can play videos from your computer or music or photos from your computer onto your ps3 - TV versity and fftshow even allow the ps3 to stream divx

- U can install Linux and hybrids onto the ps3 also

you should start with resistance or r6 vegas or motorstorm,all of them have gr8 multiplayer modes.

as far as blu-ray is ,go for Planet Earth.

Ps3 is a musthave. I have both ps3 and 360. The box broke down in february and i`m still waiting for it to be replaced.

Yes the ps3 is a great system, very reliable. You really don't have to worry about being on your 3rd or 4th console with it, because it's well made an reliable. It has a lot of great features both hardware and software wise, and more and more of it's potential gets used with firmware updates. Furthermore you came at a good time as late summer all through the holiday season looks great for games as we have big releases like Lair, Warhawk Heavenly Sword, Killzone 2, Ratchet and Clank Tools, and even MGS 4 is rumored to be coming out this holiday season. As for games to start out with, resistence is the best seller on ps3 and a pretty good shooter in itself. It also has a decent online following. However, if you want Ninja Gaiden Sigma is also very good, from what i've played of the demo, and its coming out in a bout a week. It's a pretty good action game and they say it will play in full 1080p with 60fps, so if you have an HDTV then you will enjoy that. BluRay movies are great visually, and they are mastered for high definition. They are the future of movies and are winning the HD format war so essentially with the ps3, you won't need to buy a bluray player in the future. Also, the ps3 with one of the latest firmware updates can upscale dvds to high definition so you can enjoy your regular dvds in HD too. Overall it's a great console and welcome to the PS3 community.

WHOA! Your third?! CRAP! I was going to buy a 360 for Blue Dragon. Now, I just don't know.

i have the same problem man.... i had to get mine replaced after about a month and half after launch... they sent me a new one relatively quickly but now im having problems with the disc drive just ejecting without notice... it sucks cause it happens sporadically and i know if i send it back they'll say "we had no problems when we tested it"....

On the other hand, my ps3 has worked flawlessly for the 6 months i've had it... because of my problems with my 360 i got a 2 year warranty for my PS3 but i now sorta regret it because it runs so nicely.... great peice of hardware

As far as games, there arent tooo many right now but here are some recommendations:

Resistance, Motorstorm, Oblivion (unless you had it on 360), Any EA sports title, Flow and Calling all Cars

In my opinion, the PS3 has the best lineup this fall:

Lair, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Uncharted, Killzone 2, Ratchet and Clank, Devil May Cry, Assassins Creed, Burnout 5, Grand Theft Auto 4, Brothers in Arms, LittleBigPlanet, Home... there are more

In 2008:

Metal Gear 4, Final Fantasy 13, God of War 3, Wipeout, Resident Evil 5

ya if you like action games then NGS is a good way to go but i can't compare GOW to NGS, as NG is the better action game. (HS and GOW are more comparable) You can match DMC4 to NGS but dmc will be coming late this year, may be next year. But to keep you full NGS should be good enough. Also you have two other generation of games to pick up so i would say that all Metal gear solids are a must own, especually since msg4 is coming late this year (lol maybe next)

I have also made the decsion to upgrade to the PS3 from the 360.

I bought mines a year later after the 360 launch and I'm having problems with the DVD Drive Ejecting. Thus, I don't go in as Category 1 and I tend to have good luck with my systems. I still have my original NES, SNES, Dreamcast, Gamecube, PSX, PS2, and PS3. Thus, I don't go in as Category 2 either and on top of that, I have to rely on luck when I buy my consoles? WTF?!!

Anyways, The PS3 is a really good system. It's reliable and have games like Resistance and Motorstorm. :) Go for it.

Yeah definitely go with the PS3 it may be expensive but it's worth it in the long run I have no doubt about it!

Im totally going to agree with you man. I actually had all 3 systems. the Wii was garbage, and the PS3 just didnt have any games I wanted....but truth be told, right now, Id rather have a console, have to wait a few months for good games as opposed to my console constantly breaking down.

My 7th 360 just went crap up, like last week, Im waiting on my coffin in the mail. The PS3 does offer quite a bit hardware and reliability wise, its just that in all honesty the 360 has more games I want right now, plus all the big multiplats like GTA4 etc. are coming out for the 360 and some of them are coming first to the 360.

I wish I could afford both systems in all honesty. I kind of liked Motor storm and I wish I could play LAIR when it comes out. Oblivion ROCKED for the PS3....just wish it had the down load content that the 360 version has. I can say as of right now I may just switch back to the PS3 and completely can my 360. The 360 is such garbage, reliability wise....almost 2 years in and they still cant fix these problems..WTF! Im so sick of frigging having to send it in I knew I should opf never got rid of my PS3, but the game bug got me, and I needed the trade in credit. ****! By the way does anyone KNOW for a fact when or IF Bethesda will be releasing the DL content for Oblivion? Cause I could Play Oblivion for ever lol, and just buy a 360 when Fable 2 comes out...which Im seriously considering doing right now.
