I recently bought the 80gb ps3 bundle (Motorstorm edition, with "5 free blue-ray movies" rebate), and am having regrets upon learning Japan is releasing a 160gb version (worldwide in a few months), which will come with dualshock 3 and a choice in platform color (black, silver). This is depressing me because I also know many great games will also be released in a few months, around the time of the 160gb ps3 release. I know it will cost more, and I know I can buy a hard drive for $100 to make up for the extra 80gb, but the proposed 160gb deal just seems like the right deal for me.

Also, I have already sent in the barcode on my box (preventing returning) to aquire my blue-rays.

Is there anyone out there that can bring light to any ideas on how I could get this 160gb in a few months, without just buying a whole new one (some sort of a deal with my 80gb)?

If not, is there anyone out there that can tell me something that will make me feel better about this whole thing and my 80gb?

Also, if there is anyone out there like me, list your regrets or non-regrets that you have.

80GB is more than enough space.

If you really need more space, you have the choice of buying the extra HDD. But if you don't need the space, there is no need to worry then.

I have the 60GB and I find it is great and I realize the option to buy the HDD. Besides, the 160GB won't come to NA for a while. So if you want to return your 80GB you are gonna have to wait a long time for the 160GB to come here, IF it comes here at all.

whats the big deal¿¿ just buy some 160 hdd and there u go, i dont understand why u should regret now...i mean u can just buy another hdd...cuz if u buy a 160 when and IF comes out then in another 6 or so months they`ll release the 220 gigs or something and your going to regret that u bought a 160 gig and so on

I have the 60gb the best IMO and if that is not enough space you can upgrade for very low costs.

does it really matter? remember you can upgrade your hard drive, you can take 80GB to 250GB if you want. I have a 60GB and i still have 38GB left, so i'm good. Anyways 160GB is way too much space. it would be useless to me

no regrets here to be hoenst. i've already formated and hooked another HD unit to it so now i got/should have 220GB total. As long as the external thing works as expected i dont care. DS3 will be buyable and updates downloadable, so thats another solveed problem, and overall that has nothing to do with Blu-Ray so thats covered too. All good in Haesuse land!!!

When you run out of 80GB then start crying. I think you're fine. Truthfully, I've yet to even dent my 80GB hard drive.

It's not like the 360 where you can only upgrade to a $180, 120GB HDD. With the PS3 you can upgrade at any time to almost any HDD size, so why would I regret getting a 40GB ps3? It don't store videos, pics, or music on it as I stream it from my pc.

I have huge regrets. I bought a packard bell 486DX in 1994 for $2,000. Now look at computer prices.

All joking aside, no regrets. I bought a 20GB for $499 on launch, and I've used it for more than a year as a bluray/dvd/gaming machine. I've also used it to play PS2 games since I never owned one. When people ask this question they never take into account the opportunity to use the lesser equipped machine for months/years before the new one came out.

Unless you wanted a White colored PS3 like others in this thread have stated, you really have nothing to regret. You can always upgrade your HDD down the road.

Has anyone ever remember that some PS3 games require an install of 2-3 GB if you want it to run? But don't worry, you wont be needing more space on it, unless if you are downloading more crap that is.

I have a 60 gig and have enjoyed it a lot. As for the size of the HDD all you need to do is upgrade the HDD with any SATA 2.5 5400 RPM HDD with no problem. I think these drives are up to around 350 gig more or less now. This something that the other console can't be upgraded to without a outrageous cost.

HDD space is overrated, especially now that you can stream your music/vids/music from a computer to your PS3. 80gb is more than enough imo.

why feel bad? You can get a 160gig harddrive for $60 from directron.com and a DS3 for $60 as well. I got a 60 gig with a DS3 2 sixaxis and a 320 gig drive and new skus don't bother me in the least.

dont buy another ps3 for god sake....80gb is too much space....i have two brothers, and they both have their own accounts and everything, and i have tons of games. we still have like 45 gb left. if you need more space, hook up an external harddrive. it would be a lot less then a 180gb ps3, and it probably isnt coming out for like another year, if it does.

just import the ds3 from japan and you can have it in a few days rather than wait a few months, and you can upgrade your harddrive to whatever size you want, so don't sweat it, NOW is the time to start enjoying bluray movies and awesome exclusive games. I bought my ps3 a year ago and have enjoyed the opportunity of having such a technologically awesome machine every second of that time- time and money well spent.

Just get a 2.5" SATA HDD...there are great prices for 150 GB+. The main thing about this rumor is the white colour selection...i would've definetely bought the white one.

No not really, why get that when you can simply just upgrade the hard drive. All the space isn't really neccessary unless you plan to have a lot of downloadable content in your ps3.

why do you want a 160gb if u have a ps3 that has BC,SD,MEMstickduo readers, sad compatible and for a ps3 with 160GB but none of theese features plus two less usb ports.

A slim PS3? Uhhh, I doubt that. Anyways, I have the 80GB motorstorm PS3 too and I think I got the best one frankly. It has BC which allowed me to let someone else have my PS2 and enjoy the many games it has to offer. I've been trying to fill up all my space but I haven't been able to yet (still have expired Xam'd episodes on it). I didn't need to buy the USB hub which saved me 25 bucks. No Regrets.

I got an original 60 gig fully BC compat PS3 with a 250 internal hdd. If I wanted to, I could take my 500gb external hdd, and format it to run with my PS3. So that would give me over 700gb if chose to do so. Why would I care about a newer PS3 that has no BC with PS2, and way less hdd space than what's inside my current PS3? Less usb support too? Is that true? No more 4 usb ports on the new PS3s?
