I have the ps gold wireless ones and love them. I like that I can download different game profiles on them as well
I might take a look at those, thanks for the tip.

It plugs into the controller, and the controller is in your hands, it doesn't need to be wireless.
And they also sell a wireless version. -_-

I don't understand why people want the wireless version, its worse in everyway possible.
It has a wire too so if you want it wired you can just plug it in. At least I assume the Gold set does, the Elite set does, which I have, and am very happy with.

But your holding the controller anyway, the wire is at most 2 metres from your hands to your head (and I'm being very generous, a big guy with outstretched arms).

I use it a lot on PC as well which I use an Xbox One controller, so the wireless set up is easily superior for my situation, but the three headsets Sony sells for Playstation platforms all look good.

Fair enough, I see your point with a PC.
I just use a wired set which plugs into a audio switcher between my PC/PS3 and I'm hoping its compatible with PS4.
Also from the PS Blog:
You need to connect using a wired USB connection directly to the PS4 for getting virtual 7.1 surround sound. This is the preferred way of using the headset. But the headset has a breakaway audio cable with a 3.5mm audio jack that you can connect to the DS4 – in this case it will act as a standard stereo headset.

I personally don't care much for the VSS though.

I wish it was 7.1 when plugged into the DS4 controller. Ahhh well.
