So yesterday I got bored and just turned on my PS3 to play GTA IV. Only to notice the game disc is not read yet. So I take the disc out put it back in and the PS3 still cannot read any discs. So I take it back out again clean it off put it back in and it still doesn't read it. It's not GTA IV its with all Blu-ray discs. I tried COD4 and it wouldn't read it either. I tried Spider man 3 in blu- ray and it wont get read either. But magically when i turn my system on and off it works all of a sudden. So I play.

Now today morning it won't work at all. I tired every method.I read the manuel and it doesn't say anything on my situation. But I tried the standard DVDS and they get read perfectly. And it seems that the BLU-ray dics are the ones that can't be read. Do I have to send it in? With the release of MGS4 around the corner I don't want to wait another month for that game.

BTW it's the 40 gig...

Thanks in Advance.

I would suggest you promptly contact Sony about the problem, Is your console still under warranty?

You should have a 12 month warranty with Sony for buying the console I believe, you may have to mail it to them for a repair mind, and I'm not sure if this is costly... as I said before, you're first port of call should be phoning them, and go from there.

As to most of the posts, yeah you will have to send it back. But you WONT lose all of your game saves, back up the system onto a large flash drive (4 - 16BG) before you send it in then just restore the system when you get it back.

I think you can actually request for your saves to be transferred onto your new HDD, or better yet, back your saves up onto a USB Drive and then add them to you spanking new HDD when the replacement arrives. :)
