I just bought “PSP 1001K” version 1.05, please tell me I can update to version 3.11 form us.playstation.com, there is no harm to update U.S. 3.11 version?

if you got any game with it they come with updates. If you want to update just create a wirless network with your psp and pc and click network update. Dont turn your psp off when updating.

WOW thats a nice version I would say buy another PSP and keep that one for some thing else.

How can you tell which versions are good or not? Is a 1001K better than 1004K for example? and what is the benefit of having an earlier version psp?

Well there is something "special" about PSP's with a 1.50 firware. It's illegal to talk about it here......but i guess you should know it by now.
