Is PlayStation Move a new system or an expansion for the PS3?

I'm wondering is the PSM a whole new system or can you just hook up all the new stuff to your PS3, cause I'll buy it if it's an expansion but not if you gotta buy it as a whole new system.

Interesting question because in my point of view Nintendo Wii is nothing but an expansion for the GameCube with those sensor based controllers. :roll:

But the Move is just an expansion, an option for the type of controller for the PS3. ;)
