I found a 60 GB from my sister's boyfriend. He's selling it to me for 300$. I already have an 80 GB but I want the B/C. How much do you think Gamestop will give me for my 80 GB PS3?aznfool07
80gb version does play about 70% of the ps2/ps1 games so i dont think its worth trading it in for 60gb. but i dont think they'll pay too much high of a price for it. and plus i heard a rumor that sony will be releasing a cd for 40gb and 80gb ps3 users to play older ps games
EBAY
Don't sell it back to Gamestop, You'll probably get like 250 *guessing*
I highly suggest you sell it on ebay, You'll probably get around 3 bills or a little more. Ebay it, all you need is a picture and logo of your name showing that you have it, BAM! Sold

Really link please cause that would be cool for the 40 gigger folks.60gb=99% B/C
80gb=85% B/C
I have a 60gb PS3..and I'd prefer the 60gb over the 80gb. You can always upgrade the hard drive or buy an external hard drive to plug it into the PS3.
You can check backwards compatibility for the specific PS2 games you're worried about at this site.
If your 80GB plays all of the PS2 games you care about ... there's no reason to get the 60GB
As of right now, none of the PS3s are 100% backwards compatible, but the backwards compatibility issues with some games will be corrected over time through system updates ... so eventually the gap will close, and the B/C of the 60GB and 80GB will be nearly the same.
Your right I have one to but if you have a 80gb then why sell it, unless you have a lot of ps2 games (like myself) then yes.If not then theres no point whats so ever at all for you to sell it thats a waste of money in my eyes!!!!60gb=99% B/C
80gb=85% B/C

I don't know how much Gamestop will give you for a 80gig PS3 but I can tell you it WON'T be worth it. Just keep your 80gig & wait patiently until new updates allow you to play more PS2 & PS1 games. Personally, if you could obtain a BRAND NEW 60gig, I would say go for it but for a used one...... Just avoid it & stick with your new 80gig.

hmm dude don't trade it in, just keep the 80GB. Are u really going to be playing ps2 games in 2008 and 09 with all these new good titles coming out? plus u got extra space, your going to get jipped either way you trade ur console and pay 300 for the 60GB.

I missed out on a lot of great PS2 RPGs and also. I came to the conclusion that I'm not trading it in. I'm just going to sell it to a friend. Its about the same thing and I get some extra money.
Sony says that 80 GB plays 70-75% on the RLS website (Retail Loyalty Site). It must be accurate because that's what it says to tell customers interested in it.
You can call into GameStop to get trade-in values. I work at GameStop, but am new. You need a Serial Number to check exact values, but someone might know it off the top off their head.

What does GS sell used 80 gig PS3's for? Find that number and divide by 4. That seems to be what they do for used games.
So new = $499.
GS probably sells used for $469.
That means you will get roughly $200.
