How is the speed of your downloads? (Game downloads)

Mine are extremely fast! It's great I'm downloading 5 GB in about 12 minutes but I googled it and it seems like a lot of people are getting really slow download speeds. Wonder what the difference is between me and them.

Is anybody else getting really fast D/L speed?

TC, you didn't mention anything, Is it PS3/4? What downloads (game/video/audio)? Location? ISP?

On the ps3 they are terrible. I can download 1 gig a minute with my internet connection. Yet it takes like 30 mins on the ps3.

I download games over 21 MB/s on my computer, yet the ps3 on gets 1MB/s or maybe 2.

Something like 20 mins/GB on my PS3 and probably around that for my Vita. My connection isn't horrible, but I'm not on fiber optics obviously. I get something like 15 mbps download when testing my connection on my computer. I'm not sure how fast a GB of data is supposed to download with that type of speed, though.

Not sure if this also applies for the upload, but you divide the result you get from speedtest for the download, by 8. But in order to find out what your max download speed is, you'll have to try different servers. The local ones around me don't give anything near what I get in the picture I posted above. So thats why I use the one I do.

I see. So for me I should be able to download something at about 2 MB/s, meaning a 1GB file should ideally take about 10 minutes at most? I don't really download large files aside from games on my PS3 and Vita, so I don't have a full idea of how fast it can be. But I guess it's good enough, would be nice if it was faster but I don't think there are many, if any, better options here.

the internet in my country is terrible I downloaded the The Last Of Us : Left Behind and it took for it to download 14 hours. which is the fastest download out of the other games I downloaded which are full games that are over 5GB.

Oh how I long for the internet in my country to be improved.

Bioshock Infinite for the PC took something like 3-4 hours (probably closer to 4 hours) from download until I was adjusting settings in the game menu. The game folder size is 16.9gb.

You guys could do the math.

I downloaded Infamous: Second Son in about 10-12 minutes..very fast.

Test your speed.

My PS3 with Optimum is 12 mb/s download.... 2.7 mb/s upload....(Wireless).

Wired?.... it jumps to 15 mb/s download and 3.0 mb/s upload. Basic package!

If I pay $5 more a month with optimum, I can get 50 mb/s download and 25 mb/s upload. There is also Optimum Ultra 101 option and that gets you 101 mb/s download.

My god I thought it was me. On my PC I get about 2 MBPS for game downloads. On my PS3 it seems to take forever to download those 400 mb PS1 games. WTF?

it aint you , mine takes for ever to , dispite it only taking minutes on pc , wiiu or xbox360

With all the net neutrality stuff happening, it seems like downloads take a little bit longer. Now, I think Optimum wants to force people pay more for a more expensive, faster internet package. 3 different internet tier packages? I don't download much and I don't mind to wait so the basic internet is fine for me.

mine are pretty good on the PS4

On my Xbox One not so great, on my PS4 it's a lot more acceptable. I don't have the greatest internet in the world, but it does it's job.

I forgot to mention that I downloaded the Steam Bioshock Infinite (16.9Gb installed) using WiFi N. If I used a wired connection, it'd be done sooner.

I don't have any next gen consoles yet, but on my PS3 the download speeds are tolerable (they usually don't take any longer than a few hours for the average indie game off of PSN). Not sure about the exact measurements of it though.
