Here's a list of the ones I've played from this gen, some were amazing, some were great and some were just ok. I can't decide that for you though, you might hate what I love and vice versa.Â
Â
Red Dead Redemption
Sleeping Dogs
Assassins Creed series
Saints Row 2 and 3
GTA4
Mafia 2
Fallout 3
La Noire
Infamous
Skyrim
Oblivion
Farcry 3
Dragons Dogma
Dead Island
The Amazing Spiderman, Batman Arkham City, Deus ex: HR Â - they're open but they're not.Â
Â
You can also get the old GTA games on PSN, San Andreas and Vice city. 2 of the best open world games ever made imo.Â
Hi everyone. I LOVE free roaming games and i gonna buy a new one. Which free roaming/open world game/games is the best. Please tell me your opinion. Thanks =DMohWarfighterAs an older gamer, the game Coolyfett recommends is Red Dead Redeption, GTA IV and maybe Dark Souls.
I really liked 'The Saboteur', it's set in WW2 France and you're an Irish guy who fights back to free Paris from the Nazi's. Plays like GTA; has veichles, lots of weapons, etc. Also in parts that are in Nazi control are black and white. Pretty picturesque. Look up some gameplay videos if you're interested, personally I highly recommend it.
Although this isn't a PS3 game, (it's from PS2) it is on the PSN store and it's called Bully! If you haven't already played it, it's sort of like the little brother to GTA. You play as Jimmy who gets sent to boarding school and it's basically GTA, but no gore violence. You attend classes, fight against bullies/nerds, wreck havoc on authority, earn money from jobs, and climb the social ladder of school!
Had lots of fun with all of these games, the one I've gone back to the most is Skyrim though.
I've just finished Mafia II, and I can't really label it as an open world game. There are no side missions or anything to do in Empire Bay, except for stealing cars to sell at junkyard and robbing a few stores to buy a couple of suits, and eat food to replenish health.
Even though there are street crimes, aka side missions, to attend to, L.A. Noire, is not an open world game, either.
Yet, these are both good games, and L.A. Noire is actually one of my favourite games.
@MohWarfighter:
Far Cry 3, Saints Row 3, Assassin's Creed series, Batman series, Pokemon series, Ni No Kuni, Borderlands 2 are all great games
Sleeping Dogs, Skyrim, Dragon's Dogma, Kingdom of Amalur, RDR, Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon.
And some may say they don't belong in the free roaming category, but Darksiders 1 and 2 both have big worlds with many secrets to find.
