Attack of the show: 'Is the PS3 Dead?'

If anyone watches the Attack Of The Show podacasts on their psp's they will see a number of these casts on there. All I want to say is, HOW can you judge a two month old console and compare it to one thats been out for over a year. All I hear is 'ps3 is not selling' , 'xbox are selling more' , 'ps3 has no killer aps' , 'ps3 is losing its exclusives'. This is a serious load of crap. If anyone remembers the 360 launch, you will remember that they never had many great titles out either, no console does, solely on the fact that its a NEW piece of hardware so the developers need to experiment with it to utilize it fully. For example the psp, everyone said it was dead at the end of 05', then it would last over the 06' well now it has a tonne of games and is selling a lot. The guys were saying that it will take over a year for the ps3 to catch up with the 360 in sales, and I think that that is about right, seeing as most games are coming out later this year. But how can a console be classed as dead when its only been out for a few months, while remembering it hasn't even launched in EU yet? I think Sony has some type of plan up their sleeves to completely turn this around, because they always do. What do you guys think?Asim90

Yeah, this is the same show that aired a two-hour PS3 special on launch day and the two hosts were getting hot and horny just unwrapping their unit live. Olivia Munn was practically ready to give the PS3 a b***job she seemed so hot and bothered. Now they turn around and say its dead within four months on the verge of the big games releasing and the system going worldwide?

Stupid ratings tricks are what's coming to mind...

g4tv is about to go off the air pretty soon, if any of you watch adult swim a couple of weeks ago the posted their rankings on the air along with other neworks and the one with the lowest avraging up to 5,000 or 1,000 viwers was g4. so there future as a network is dead they just want more veiwers to watch, thats the only reason they put up "Is the PS3 Dead" dont encourge them by watching they have stupid shows on their network anyways and if they not stupid they are on dvd already saving the time of watching g48Slick8

Well the PS3 didn't live up to the hype and had no AAA game at launch (the x360 had one). Couple that with the fact that XBL is still superior to PSN and the $600 price tag.

The PS3 isn't dead, but it's definitely in last place right now.

I find it amusing that in the wake of the PS3 launch, we have seen next to NO 360 sales, but no one seems to look at that.

If you follow the sales charts, the 360 has almost 9 mill sold. And that is in 14 months, WORLDWIDE. The PS3 has been out 2 days shy of 3 months, and has 1.7 mil, and that is just in 2 territories. Since the Xmas rush, the sales for the 360 have been non-existant, they have sold a couple hundred thousand WORLDWIDE! I say it again WORLDWIDE. That is peanuts. IF anything is dead or dying at the moment it is the 360. With the 2 new kids in the gaming pool, they are getting no love at all.

Once the PS3 hits the UK, we can likely see another 500k - 1mil jump in PS3 sales. The install base will be close to 3 mill potentially, at this pace in 1 year we will outsell the 360, and unless more Wii's get produced, the PS3 will be catching them too.

Oh ya, and G4 totally sucks... Down with Kevin and his merry band of Xbots....

The x360 had great sales in December.

the funny thing is that the 360 has been out since 2005 , so it has had around 1 and a half year of time to get going,  the PS3 has had 3 months yet they are practicly tied, so the xbox360s defeate is inevitableRoushrsh

whats funny to me is that you see microsoft try to dish out so much bad things out on the PS3 when ever the are about to LAUNCH. did any one ever notice that, what got them so scared that they have to do it right before they launch...think about it take a second

PS3 owner, have never owned any sort of Xbox.

My buddy and I discussed this topic a few nights ago.  We talked about the last generation war, and how it seems like the opposite of the this generation.  From a technical standpoint, the xbox was arguably superior to the PS2.  Having a hard drive and some more capabilities is a hard thing to argue against.  As far as gaming and graphics... it didn't have major advantages, but slight ones.  (The main issue I had with the xbox was the large bulky controller, and the way it was laid out.  Obviously I wasn't the only one as they later made smaller ones, and then the 360 came out with one that is basically a copy of the PS2's).

However, the PS2 already had a fan base from PS1, came out earlier, and had an international following for other Sony products.... which gave it a tremendous upper hand.

Conversely, in this generation's war... I believe that the PS3 is the technologically superior machine.  It is noticeable but it isn't by too much from what I've seen out of things that came out, or is expected to come out this year.  It is much like the way I think Xbox was a little bit superior than the PS2.  Anyone who says it is way better than the 360 isn't being objective.  I think both are good machines, and both have their issues.  Blu-Ray is nice for movies, but I already have a computer.  I certianly hope the capabilities that are there come to fruition, but as of right now I just haven't seen anything yet.

Internationally.... I still think Sony will end out on top, but the margin will be much closer as the Wii is very innovative in it's game play, and because XBox not only has built a fan base, but also had the head start.  I think in North America, that the XBox has a chance to take the lead due to it's head start.  But for anyone to say that the PS3 is going to be dead is also mistaken.

As an owner of all the Play Stations... I stayed loyal to my brand.  But I have to admit, when I went to the game store last night to reserve a copy of Motorstorm... and was asking the store guy if I should buy Devil May Cry after already buying and finishing God of War because there are no PS3 games out... well I looked over at the full wall of XBox 360 and was a bit jealous. 

I understand it's early... but personally the only exclusive games coming out in the near future that really interest me for PS2 is Motorstorm.... otherwise I have to wait till June for games like Lair and Heavenly Sword to come out.
