I'm looking for a new monitor to console game on for when I get the PS4. I currently game on my HP 2311x TN panel monitor. It's a decent monitor has 5ms response time, and 11ms input lag. Don't be fooled with the monitors that advertise really low input lag. They really don't get that input lag they advertise once you test them. At least not that I've seen. Does anyone know of a really good monitor for console gaming? Preferably under 5ms response time, and under 11ms input lag. Also, has to have decent picture quality where it doesn't look all washed out. My budget is $300-$600.

Yeah, I play my PS3 on the older Playstation 3D Display which was suppose to be a small TV but it's small enough to use as a computer monitor too. I don't have a setup where I can game on my living room couch like I use to, so it's either on my computer desk or on my bed where I'm right in front of my TV. And gaming on bed was too uncomfortable for me, I can't focus on the screen and concentrate if I'm lying down, and sitting up gets uncomfortable after awhile, I prefer sitting upright on my chair.

For console gaming, I don't believe you need a display that expensive, especially with older consoles, you're potentially wasting money. Image upscaling doesn't typically occur until we get into the pricier and newer LED TVs, and many of those are too large to put on your computer desk.

For PC gaming it makes a huge difference because if your rig can output 120 FPS you want a monitor that can accommodate that so you want a higher refresh rate, but a lot of the things your talking about like input lag is just too tiny to literally even notice, especially on the older consoles. A regular 21-24" LED TV will run a PS3/PS4 just fine.

@dbtbandit67:

I've played both on a monitor and a tv and playing on a monitor for console gaming makes a huge difference especially if your playing a fast paced game like call of duty. All I know is if I can get 97 kills on a monitor and not even close to that on a tv with the slower response time and input lag then im going to game on a monitor from now on.

I use the BenQ XL 2420T, one of the best gaming monitors money can buy. Can't recommend it more.

I have my ps3 set up on my secondary computer monitor. I think its fine. I do it mostly so I have a console to play when my wife iswatching tv.

Yep the Sony 24 inch 3D Gaming display. Thought I'd give 3D gaming a chance. Sony had the 3D monitor which made the price reasonable. I ended up getting one for $150.00 while the 3D Television phase has died out. I did give 3D gaming a chance with the 24 PS3 3D monitor. As well as the Nintendo 3DS

It is great for gaming. even without the 3D effect. Now that 3D has somewhat faded. 4K is the new thing.
