My specs are Alienware M17x INTEL CORE2 QUAD Q9000 2.0GHZ 1GB DUAL NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 260M - SLI (2gb total) 4GB DUAL CHANNEL DDR3 AT 1333MHZ 1TB (500GB X 2) 7,200RPM - RAID 0, QS I know the HD doesn't really matter.. But would I be able to run it on the highest setting, or even with the Ultra High Mod?

Nothing can run Crysis on high settings? That's incorrect... and TC you're computer will run Crysis at high settings.

People still think that if tey can't max it out, nobody can.

Weird since maxed out, 2xAA, at 1680x1050 I usually get around 34 frames average (DX 10) and on ice levels I get around 26 which is still fluid, but yeah nothing can.

I'd say 40FPS is pretty smooth... just because you can't run it maxed out doesn't mean that no one can.

Maybe, but when it comes to laptops you can't really beat them. On the other hand, desktops should never be bought from such expensive retailers since they can be easily built or bought cheaper elsewhere.

only 2xAA you need be a running 16xQcsaa or 24x edge detect AA to be maxed out!!! at 1680x1050 is to low you need at least 1920x1200 and preferly 2560x1600 perhaps it will be possible with the 5870x2 who knows.

When people say max - it doesn't literally mean that every setting is pushed to the limit. Maxed means that you have the settings to what you desire.

Considering you have 2 gtx260M and the mobile version of the gtx260 is about equal to performance to a desktop 9800gt card i say you would be able to play it at very high up to 1680x1050 ( at 1920x1080 though you might wanna stick to mostly high instead of very high settings). Only think you must know is that AA is a real performance killer in crysis ( more so than other games) and even 2xAA will decrease performance alot. Of course seeing you have 2xgtx260M you migh be able to use 2xAA in combination with very high settings if you are gaming to 1680x1050 or less ( forget AA with higher res though)

Just checked and it runs between 50 and 55 fps. But I honestly don't have a clue if this would change depending on whats happening on the screen.

When you have the settings at a high enough point where turning up additional settings only taxes FPS with offering no noticeable visual improvement, I'd say its maxed. Honestly, I doubt when someone say they play a game maxed, they always have forced 16x Q AA or 24x Edge Detect in the control panel

That's what it's always meant to me - PC Gaming for 10+ years. I don't think whenever someone says they play a game maxed, they literally have forced 16x Q AA, maxed config settings, etc.. Especially considering that the visual difference between 16x AA and 4x AA at such high settings is extremely difficult to distinguish. When you can run a game to the point where it's smooth at the highest settings you desire, you maxed it. Hell, in Crysis, I'd consider DX10, Very High, no AA maxing it, because the game looks considerably better with additional AA since the game's regular edge smoothing has a better look on foliage. Otherwise, Crysis is virtually impossible to max. There's so many settings you can turn up in the configuration file that don't even have reasonable limits. When you have the settings high enough to the point where further settings only tax the FPS and don't offer discernible visual change, it's maxed.

"Maxed out" usually means running the game at a decent resolution (nowadays usually 1440x900 or 1680x1050) with all the settings maxed out except filters, AA and AF.

P.S Get over it, Crysis isn't impossible to run maxed out even with the settings that, you say, are over the resonable limits.

it was just the way you phrased it that made me laugh :). yeah id say maxing a game doesnt involve any additional external settings from your video card control panel just the maximum the game allows inc max aa at the full resolution of your monitor. obviously people interpret maxed out differently

There's settings that you can fiddle with in the config in Crysis that will bring any system to a crawl. With no system can you max it with considerable FPS.

everything highest, without AA, it was doable at 1280x1024 BY release day.

most current mid to high end rigs should be able to run it highest with full AA at 1024x768.

resolution matters probably the most in this kind of discussion...and not to be left out.

I'd say any high end rig with at least a GTX 260 will run Crysis on high at 1440x900 or 1680x1050 with rno AA and reasonable frames.

i run crysis at 1680x1050 allmaxed out2AA and get minimum 35FPS, and it is mostly over 50FPS. The SLI GTX260M will probably struggle at the very high settingsat 1440x900 and over res. but it can go all high for sure, and that looks pretty good to say the least.

Unless you are using direct 10 machine 64bit. with decent duo core 3ghz or quad core 2.8ghz ( not sure crysis run better on 2 or 4 my guess is duo core 32bit at the moment) 4gig of ram and a most impt graphic Nvidia card that cost more than $500 or more then you are playing or can play the highest settings.
