WIC is an amazing game. To be honest I dont actually have the patience to finsh the majority of the pc games I've bought, but I just could not stop playing WIC. It's a very unique strategy game, very fun, and the story is quite compelling. (If you can get past theobscene patriotism, but I guess I don't get it being that I'm Canadian) Alec Baldwin does a great job telling the story and the rest of the voice acting is quite good. IMO this game is a MUST have.
Company of Heroes gets you closer in to the action- and the AI is vicious if you want it that way- WIC is no slump either for sure- probably depends more if you prefer recent setting or more dated
I had a great time playing through the SP campaigns in CoH, and I'm sure the expansion campaign will be a blast as well. However, I much prefer WiC for multiplayer because after playing WC3 for about 4 years, I'm kinda drained on base building, and I prefer concentrating on micro'ing battles.
This isn't to say that CoH has poor multiplayer, or WiC has a bad campaign ... I just found that for my tastes and experience in RTS games, that each outperforms the other in different ways.
They both look spectacular and I doubt you'll be unhappy with either choice.
I love World in Conflict, it reminds me of when I was a kid playing with micro machines(remember those) I used to have all the army vehicles and bases and what not to go with them(still have pretty much all of it, my brothers kid plays with them now and they still look like new considering they are from the early 90s). Well, anyway I basically get to take what I was pretending as a child and have way more fun with it now. Can anyone relate?
I got CoH for free with my video card. Got bored with it after the second mission.CoH is a different type of game, way more like any other traditional RTS.
WIC is a game that a lot of players that want to get into RTS's will like....the fact that you can drop into multiplayer like into an FPS makes the game a lot easier to earn....
at the same time though, people that play a lot of RTS's, may find it somewhat basic, because you generally control a pretty small group of units at once....
its a good game though, very good online, it almost feels like BF2 converted into an RTS.
A lot of missions are time-limited yes. I found that somewhat frustrating because I always try to lose as few units as possible. You get plenty of reinforcements but you have to rush.
