I have a Radeon x1950 Pro that I bought a while ago. About 2-3 months ago and it said this: "Windows Vista Ready:.
Does that mean that when I put it on my vista it will turn into Directx10?
Or what does it mean?

No, ATi has not released a true DX10 card yet.  The X1900 series is fully compatible with Vista, but can't run the extra effects that Vista [shader model 4.0] offers.  Also, they don't have the unified shader archetecture that is crucial to real DX10 processing.  It's a good card, just not DX10.

Im getting ready to partition my HDD with Vista Ultimate, so my card would be able to run Ultimate with all/most eye candy?

Halo 2 needs DX10. Would my card be able to play Halo 2?

No. ATI has yet to give us their Dx 10 cards. Nvidia has in the form of the 8800's

You card will handle Windows Vista no problem, assuming you have at least 1GB of RAM and a decent processor. And are you sure Halo 2 NEEDS DirectX 10? I was under the impression that there weren't any games coming out that were DirectX 10 exclusive - a move like that would pretty much kill a game's sales at this point in time.

Its not vista that is DX10, it the graphics card. You, with that card, will not be able to use DX 10.

aske dthis question a lil bit late huh?
But I thought that Halo 2 was only gonna be playable with Vista because Vista was the only one with DX10.

All games released in the next year or two will be compatible with DX9 or 10.  You will still be able to play halo.  You will be able to use the Aero desktop theme on Vista with all the bells and whistles.  It just isn't a DX10 card, used for DX10 effects, in games.

I don't really know how to say this but here it goes: Yes, Halo 2 can only be played on Vista. No, It can not be played on your card because you GRAPHICS CARD is what has the DX 10.

yes!!!!!!!
Thats what I was hoping!
I will be able to play the new games that will come out in the future, just not with some special effects! (I think, thats what I understood)

oh crap! No halo 2 :(
I cant play halo 2 because it needs DX10.
But it might also be compatible with DX10!

This is what I understood:

BTW, Halo 2 was never released on PC.  I have not heard of anything that has to do with that game, or even Halo 3, coming out anytime soon on PC.  Talking about Crysis, maybe?

Future games will be compatible with DX9 & 10.
Some will only be compatible with DX10 .Those DX10 only games I will not be able to play :(

Do I have all the facts right?

NONE will only be compatible with DX10!!!   You can play ANYTHING.

For god's sake, man.

Now I see, halo 2 on April 24th.  Still, it will be playable with a DX9 card, such as the 1900 series.

Microsoft would be completely nuts if they tried to do that - for the money most people would have to spend to play Halo 2 on their computers (assuming it really is DirectX 10 only), they could get three Xbox systems and as many copies of the game.

exactly ^ ^ ^. I was thinking the same thing. Considering that microsoft owns bungie and all, it would be sales suicide to make it a DX10 only game. Maybe the halo 2 rumor got started because someone said that when Halo 3 came out on PC it'd be DX10 only, and someone misquoted that.
