Yeah certainly, at reasonable settings. I imagine you'd be able to run something like Watch Dogs on medium settings but as devs use up more of the console's power and optimize for PC's graphics cards less and less, you will be running into a bit of trouble. Don't go for a gaming laptop unless you're always on the move. It's not necessary and you have to pay a lot more for a lot less. Get yourself a nice, upgradeable desktop for that laptop's price and upgrade when you have the money. And if you like portable games, grab a 3DS or a Vita.
thanks. yeah i should have been more specific. i mean will it play next gen games. i thought the specs would out do the playstation 4 by a mile guess i was wrong.
Normally it would outperform the ps4 but the problem with laptops is the numbering system they use on the graphics chip. A GTX 660 on a desktop is very fast but on a laptop its alot slower (a GTX 660 graphics card isn't the same thing as a gtx 660m laptop chipset).thanks. yeah i should have been more specific. i mean will it play next gen games. i thought the specs would out do the playstation 4 by a mile guess i was wrong.

Thats the main/only reason why your going to struggle on this laptop. An i7 with 8gb ram and a 660 on a desktop would play ps4 game amazing (probably better) but that isn't the case on laptops

I kind of doubt even a 660 on a desktop would play ps4 games great. The PS4 may not have the raw power but the games look 680/770/7970 Ghz level imo.
The 660 will run ps4 games fine. The ps4 is using basically an overclock 7850 with a low end octo core. A 660 will offer more than enough power to play games 1080p @30FPS either at or near ps4 level settings. The main reason why this will happen this gen is the ps4 is using pc dev kits/architecture (optimization will be great).I kind of doubt even a 660 on a desktop would play ps4 games great. Theres no doubt in my mind that a slighly faster GPU with a much much faster processor will offer at least ps4 quality (which isn't saying a ton since this is going to be the least dramatic jump/generation in terms of graphics)
If the native res of the laptop screen is below 1080p? Sure. Why not? At 1080p? Forget it unless you sacrifice a lot of detail and graphics settings.

Hmm well I guess my 7970 should last a long time then.

I guess you guys didn't hear about all the framerate issues next gen consoles are currently having and how most of the demos at E3 were run on PCs :PIf the native res of the laptop screen is below 1080p? Sure. Why not? At 1080p? Forget it unless you sacrifice a lot of detail and graphics settings.

Basically this.. Hence why I prefer to have a 1366x 768 or 1600x900 display rather than full 1080p for gaming.. Your slaved to a very high resolution and the hardware you going to notice it age alot faster.. Outside of that I recently got the G46vw (i5, 14" screen, 8 gb ram, and 660m) and it is playing everything on max to high that I throw at it.. It's a great counterpart to my desktop.

I take it you're like me. So long as the games look and run good (even at a lower res) it's fine. It's all about the games rather than the hardware.
Heck. That's why I have a 24" 1080p TV and a 19" 1440x900 monitor hooked up to my PC. If a game is subpar at 1080p, I just run it at 1440x900. That's why I'm in no hurry to replace my GTX 560 Ti.
