Will 2009 Be The Best RTS Year Ever?

Will 2009 be the best RTS year ever? I think so, in my view, 1999 year was the best RTS year yet, cause you got Age of empires 2 and Homeworld in the same year. I consider Empire:Total war as an RTS. So,

Starcraft 2 + Dawn of war 2 + Empire:Total war = PURE PWNAGE!

No, but I consider it one of the best, I don't call any game or things the best ever.

they need a new company of heroes expansion or a modern war RTS that uses the Company and Warhammer 40k 2 engine.

I would love to see one thats modern day with heroes; company is pretty close, but they need more factions.

Probably. But IMO, the best RTS year ever will be when we see a Homeworld game plus a Dawn of War or Company of Heroes game in the same year.aliblabla2007

Guys this isn't a contest, and this is why.

Regardless of differing opinions on the best, I think we can all agree that CA, Blizzard, and Relic are the best RTS companies ever.

All of which are putting their ALL into making a game in the same year. So by scale, this is the best this year could possibly be for

RTS's, and I think that makes it the best.

2004 was great too, with Rome TW, Dawn of War... hmm i see a familiar trend.

Yeah, it would be cool if a high-quality RTS game came out with a modern setting. I haven't really tried World in Conflict yet. That's supposed to be a good one.

I think it would also be interesting if they did a modern military RTS with a non-American military, like The Royal Marines or something.

demigod; not EXACTLY an RTS (atleast if you play as an assassin-type hero), but it is one that i'm looking quite forward to.
starcraft 2, so how can this be bad? blizzard has yet to disappoint and i'd like them to keep it that way

yes 2009 will be the best year yet in rts games becuase of sc2 and etw , but i dont really like the dow2 ideas, also someone needs to make a game similar to company of heroes but with orcs and humans and zombies and muskets and cannons and axes!! maybe

Well on paper, yes it looks great. But that's assuming all developers pull off their respective games. We'll simply have to wait until the end of 2009 to see if this actually takes place. For now, it's hard to claim that 2009 is the best year for RTS at this moment.

But it's always fun to imagine. So go on.
