I'd upgrade the vid card first.

What is your budget?

What about either the 8800GTS (either 320 or 640 meg), or the 2900 XT?

well its ok not great but ok

first things first you might want to upgrade the video card. you might be happy with it but if you want to play upcoming games you need a new card... Also nowa days most games are in need of 2 gigs of memory so get your self another stick (1 gig) ... the other information most ppl want is your budget. tell how much you have so people can start giving you recommendations.

also im guessing you mobo is pci16

This link should help you find an affordable card

Call me superficial, but do you have a casing that is nice to look at? :D

I kinda like my Thermaltake Soprano DX (http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Chassis/midtower/sopranoDX/ve7000_index.asp)

it's massive (so good airflow alhtough it's cramped with plenty of stuff) + it comes with a big 140mm silent fan at the front
rubber dampeners on the drives
it looks good
it has that nice little details like swiveable legs (to make it more stable - just in case you have dogs, kids) and stuff

What more can you ask? A nice pece of gear that's nice to look at, and doesnt annoy you when you try to score a frag.

Well that might be because your x1300 is maybe agp and the one you are looking at is pcie.

I'd upgrade in this order....

Video Card - 8800GTS would be the best buy

RAM - try to get dual channel ram if your mobo supports it

CPU - core 2 duo or quad if your mobo supports it

It would help you a ton to get both. However I'd get another 1gb of good ram as that is a cheap upgrade. Then see what socket your mobo is, and find out if it can support the Core 2 Duos.

How do I find out if I can support Core 2 Duo? How do I find out my Mobo? I know it's PCI and I have 2 extra slots left after I installed my GPU

Use a program called CPU-Z to check the mobo socket. If it's LGA775 you should be able to run a Core 2. If it doesn't, or you want to upgrade your mobo go with these.

Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L $95

Patriot Ram $62

Then you have your x1950.

Now realize that the mobo only has support for two ATA100 devices so you may have to replace your drives or get new hard drives if you have more than 2 ata devices (or get PCI card). I'd recommend SATA hard drives anyway.
