Hi. I know that Windows 7 is going to be released in October, but I remember the DX10 cards were released some time prior to the release of Windows Vista.

So any ideas or info about the release date or the specs of these cards?

DX 11 cards arent released yet this is primarily because most video games in the market don't support it yet. There are hardly any ATI graphics cards that support DX 10.1! Cards like the ATI HD 4890/4870.

These are still very few. With games like Tom Clancys HAWX supporting DX 10.1.

Again, you need more patience!:)

Well what's the point of having a DX11-capable graphics card when there are no games that use it yet? Besides, every DirectX release is backward-compatible with older hardware, so your DX9 and DX10 cards will work fine with Windows 7.

We should expect first Dx11 Game by 2010 february / March i believe i don't know what game title it would be DX11 will be superior by lot to Direct X 9.C & DX10 : I would think of at last 3-10 Game using DX11 In 2010 : hopefully more since they say it pretty easy for Dev to make there game

Lot of Ati cards support 10.1. I have hd3850 and it supports it. But you're right for games, they are few and they are crap too:shock:

DX11 is supposed to faster than both the DX10 and DX9 SDKs. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone will take advantage of it until the next DX SDK comes out. Most developers for PC are still sicking to DX9 SDK even 7 years after its release. I don't know any games that seriously take advantage of DX10, Crysis was nice, but the difference between DX9 and DX10 was minuscule. Furthermore, the DX10 version of Crysis performed far worse than the DX9 version. The only real difference is the motion blur and the lighting is a little prettier.

DX11 cards won't be publicly available until 2010, so don't be too excited, Microsoft always makes a big thing about their new DirectX, and, personally, DirectX 10 was a complete disappointment, the library of games that use it is so small it was hard to justify upgrading to Vista and getting a new graphics card a few years ago.

People will not start really making games for DX10 until DX11 is out and by then it will be obsolete. Same goes for DX11, most likely, developers will not be able to take full advantage of it until DX12 is out and so on and so on.

I might upgrade my gaming rig with a new shiny DX11 graphics card when they come out, but again, you can't really justify upgrading until they release games that take advantage of DX11, and honestly, judging by how quickly developers took advantage of DX10, that could take a while. Save your cash until the upgrade is truly worth it, there will be better graphics cards by then anyway.

DX 11 games are so way off, you'll probably be hearing about DX15 before they even get to start using DX11. Seems more like a gimmick to me.

Fatal... did you not even read that they say Dx11 Card Full Compatbility where to release in OCTOBER LAST WEEK ? to november first Week ? Look at Hardware news

Yes DX11 Game Will eventulty have 2-3 i belive to hit in Q1-Q2 of 2010 : since they say it pretty adapative and probabely most of Game Dev will go to dX11 Because Dx11 as lot of Great feature in a way that is too revolutionary compare to DX10 it is a Revolution the potential

But I doubt to see any Dx11 Game that use 50% of it potential before 2011 just because of how far the spec goes
Beside Gamers082009 if you haven't read any new About DX11. And how it work compare to DX10.. You should not comment on DX11 really.

SM 4.0 = Dx10 : SM 5.0 Just by Look the spec it won't be any gimmick be assure : if you compare SM 3.0 to 4.0 there feature aren't any near of the Step from SM 4.0 to SM 5.0

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1001/1/
And here a preview of Tessellation of Shade model 5.0
just by look by the Light & Rock Detail it pretty Realistic and it what we should get in gaming

The first DX11 cards will release in October / November - but they won't be widely available, or reasonably priced, for a few months. I'm planning to get my DX11 GPU sometime in November, though I've considered the scenario of waiting until mid-2010 simply to see the 300 series drop as well.

I'm thinking Dx10 was more of a stepping stone in Dx development, Dx11 appears to be its successor much like vista's successor is 7, and the real advances really will be noticed, like others have said look on youtube at the AMD dx11 demo's pretty cool, and considering the chart above everything looks to be getting better n better :)

like Crysis & Cryisis Warhead ? Comapny of heroes ? MS Flight simulator X ? World in conflcit ? if by any chance they update to DX11 ? it would mean we would get a Dramatic improvemnet in performances and some minor graphic improvement ? or like just much more fps so then you can max the AA further

only DX10.1 Game ? or DX10 Game as Well ? there not much DX10.1 I think there about 3-4 title that are 10.1 (Far cry 2) BattleForge & StormRise and i tough DX10.1 only provided like default AA + Better Shadow / HDR on object

I say go for it or wait til they release Dx11 cards just so your 4890 is cheaper, unless your into bleeding edge. If anything you can just sell off your 4890 when the prices on the next gen cards go down, basically just pay a little to play now and have the next gen card any ways.

im holding off myself, I have a 4850 now and think id do better by upgrading my processor since im still on a 5200+. I think quad core will be more important in the near future than dx11 will be.

My 4670 1Gb plays all my games ok, I'm waiting for ATI and their DX11 range. If I want more horsepower I'll OC my CPU and GPU.

DirectX 11, or should I say, Direct3D 11 features an upgraded pipeline of that pipeline in Direct3D 10. DirectX 11 is not really a revolution, merely an upgrade of Microsoft's previous graphics API. Yes, they added tesselation, but honestly, Microsoft's products almost always fall short.

Instead of redesigning their graphics API for performance, Microsoft is adding gimicks in an effort to make Direct3D 11 faster than D3D 10. It's the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Yes, they added a bunch of cool stuff, but it is not really a revolution, is it? DX10 was supposed to take full advantage of Vista's API, and that's why Microsoft did not release it on XP.

There is also the problem of consoles. Part of the reason developers have not taken advantage of DX10 or DX10.1 yet is because of the XBox360 and PS3, the majority of the market is on the consoles, not the PC (partially for reasons of affordability). Why learn DX10 when you can use DX9 to make a PC port? The library of DX10 games has not even hit triple digits and its been three years (give or take)!

I have the nVidia 295 GTX, and I don't really see the need to upgrade to DX11anytime soon, developers will be hard pressed to even get a singe DX11 game out Q1 or Q2 next year. General advice - save your money until both developers and manufacturers have learned to make the most of DX11, and by that time, DX12 will be on the horizon. I really don't get the whole point of upgrading anymore...
