It be never released he just wants money money money. The only time it be released is when he starts his next kit starter.
The real question is when will the game reach the point where it has an actual good amount of content with various systems implemented and you can make progress without things getting reset in the next patch. I assume the official release will happen shortly after but it doesn't matter since they'll be constantly updating the game anyway. Iirc the plan is to have the whole Stanton system in the game by the end of the year. We might also see some basic mining and salvaging as well as escort this year if cargo gets added. I think they'll start pushing the content next year when more and more systems (as in game mechanics, not star systems) reach completion with a 2018 release date.
when the majority of people who have invested in this venture become restless and start to demand answers or their money back
Seems like a late 2017 title...the game is what? only 3.5 years in full development? Way too short, no way a game this ambitious be ready by this year...even next year is actually stretching it.
Starbound took 5 years to develop and that game consists of SPRITES.
I don't really care when it's released. I tried playing it this past weekend and granted it's in the Alpha stage of things still, I wasn't impressed by it.
I don't remember where I came across the link, but I had a code to access the game without being a "give me money now and maybe see a finished project later" (kickstarter) supporter. Free access to it ends 7/22/16.
Anyway, I ran around in the space port area for a bit - you couldn't really do anything in it. Then I tried a couple of different ships that were available and the Alpha ran well, but it wasn't very exciting. I just personally don't see what the draw is to this game. I'd much rather enjoy my time playing Freelancer.

you missed the quests I take it
Late 2017, maybe early 2018. I think everything is kind of coming together. I'm content waiting, I'm actually enjoying the development process, they're very open about it and being able to play the various builds, send in input, and seeing the game take shape is rewarding.
Looking forward to Squadron 42, and the open world component can take it's sweet time for all I care.
Call me optimistic, but I think we are going to see the rate of milestone accomplishments increase quite a bit in the next few months. Once Squadron 42 is out, all those resources can then be diverted towards the open-world component.
I'd much rather enjoy my time playing Freelancer.
That's the draw right there. This game is going to be the best thing since Freelancer, Freespace 2, I-War 2, and Tie Fighter.
It's easy to be cynical and bitter about the wait, but c'mon...plenty of other games to play in the meantime.

Exactly, like Squadron 42!
Personally I'm more excited for Squadron 42 than Star Citizen. So i agree with many of u, I can wait for a while for that but I sure hope SQ42 is done soon. It's been a long time since Starlancer came out and I've been dying for a good mission based space ship game since then. I stopped testing SC about a year ago. It's not fun for me yet. I want the real game and i feel like the testing started spoiling the excitement. I kinda wish they would stop the free fly week deals cuz it's currently not in condition to advertise, but it will be eventually I have no doubt.
Don't even dare argue about the release of this game. People with degrees software design will put you down.
It will not have an official release. It's being gradually expanded from the existing playable part to it's larger future builds. They have said this many times themselves.
Only the Squadron 42 will have a separate release.
I dont think it will ever release as a proper MMO Space Sim as advertised.
It will get cut back, into another freelancer style MP (not a bad thing) but with no mod support.
I gaurentee it.
They don't have the talent (talking overall development time... and poor choice of engine) to support anything more.

Yeah, imo I feel they need to "go dark" and stop with the publicity, put in some overtime and realize they have a job to do; a bit of fun with work is fine, but it's still a damn job so get busy.
Not criticizing, it's just I see all these publicity things they're doing and it annoys me a little bit. Make the game, breed the culture when the game is close, then let the community take it over.
I've enjoyed watching and partaking in development, but it's gone from "one step backwards, two steps forward" to "one step backwards, one step sideways, a slight stumble forward, one step backward, oh ehy what's this shiny thing over there and by the way here is a new spaceship some intern made we are going to dump 1000 hours into making it into the hangar"
OK maybe I am being a little critical. I really want to play this game. Elite: Dangerous is a great game but it's way too slow and not for me, and I am unsure if No Man's Sky will offer the strength of gameplay to keep me interested (I'm thinking it will be a walking simulator, but with a spaceship instead of legs).

Agreed.
Was thinking about checking out the alpha but decided I want to experience everything fresh. I predict 2018 for the whole game, but am seriously jonsing for a good single-player game. I hope this all comes together or Roberts is up shit creek with no paddle and Smart will have a field day. I just want SC to get finished to spite that douchebag.
2020. Too many locations are yet to be designed and they promised over 100 Star Systems. They put a lot of effort into everything, especially their environments, so considering how long it took to release first planetside location shows that it'll be awhile before the game is complete. That's OK though because I don't want them to rush the game and as long as I'm getting my Squadron 42 fix, I can wait.
