I've been gaming since I was four years old, and oddly enough, I've hardly even touched an RTS in my life. I played a little bit of AoE3 and C&C Zero Hour, but that's really it.

I want to start playing RTS's and give them a fair chance, in hopes I'll find something that interests me.

Warcraft 3. While it is abit old it still has a strong fanbase. There is also an expansion called Frozen Throne.

All of the early Command and Conquer games were great. I recommend getting Command and Conquer The First Decade. It's $20 and has all of the good C&C games in it.

I think I downloaded the demo for it a long time ago and thought it was pretty fun. I'm not sure if I agree with the rating GS gave it though...
I'll give that a shot though.

World in Conflict, Company of Heroes, and Warcraft 3 are some good ones to try out. Pretty noob friendly in my mind.

c&c3 and red alert3 are both easy to get into... although from what ive heard about starcraft 2 single player and its challenges system, it will probably be the best one.

Starcraft 2 is about to release, thats a good choice. Sins of a solar empire is slower paced but still very fun. Command and conquer games we're fun ( the old ones ) I havent played any of the new ones. Warcraft 3 is an excellent game aswell it's probably my favorite RTS.

Halo Wars. Not for PC, but it's an easy to understand game and it's pretty fun.

Warcraft III is about the only RTS I've ever enjoyed.

Starcraft 2 is you are willing to wait a couple of weeks. So far judging from the beta it is VERY noob friendly while also having enough depth to appeal to the better players. It also has one of the best matchmaking systems I've ever used in a game (I generally hate matchmaking systems thanks to how bad XBL and GFWL are) which is generally very good at matching you with people of equal skill. (There are the odd glitches here and there where you end up playing against a Diamond League player for some reason, but nothing is perfect xD)
