Im planning on building a ryzen 3000 system, with prob a 3800X and some variaty of x570 motherboard, and some ddr4 obviously. but what ram to get. Because the trident z rgb 3200MHz CAS 14 is the same price as the trident z rgb 3600 CAS16. From what ive read these both also have samsung memory on them, wich is apparently a good thing.. so wich should i get, maybe something else entirely

3600 mhz, tighten up timings yourself if you desire.

I just looked around and it seems as a lot of these x570 motherboards have a lack of documented specifications which makes it impossible to know what kind of RAM to get...
x570 motherboards have yet to release in my country so specs might be a subject of change.

However, I found specs on a MSI PRESTIGE x570 and that one supported the following DDR4 memory speeds:

2400 MHz, 1866 MHz, 2133 MHz, 2666 MHz

If it is 3200 CL14 it should easily overclock to 3600 CL16 or CL15. 3733 was mentioned as the sweetspot I think for Ryzen 3000.

Some mobos have stated up to 4666MHz.

Problem is, the infinity fabric is tied to the RAM speed, but going above 4000 or so and it changes from 1:1 ratio to 2:1. So above (you can change the settings of course) 4000 RAM speed you get suddenly half the speed on the infinity fabric.

@TDuiker: Their prices are the same because of well it's basically the same performance - the one got lower CAS latency while the other got better speed.

I'd get the 3600 if you do not want to touch the OC so much, but as far as I know you'd going to do so anyway if you're about to OC the CPU.

@PredatorRules: Well if i get the 3600 c16, i might be able to get tighter timings, and or higher speeds. And i will prob OC the CPU. Since i always have, and i will have a H100i on it..... and its a propperly soddered IHS..

Ryzen responds better to lower latency than frequencies... I'd wait for reviews before you make a purchase.

If its anything like 2700X then go for lower latency even if its a slower frequency.

A 2666 CL12 set of RAM out performs 3200 CL16 in gaming with Ryzen.

I would take my best guess and say the CL14 3200 set would be a better option.
