When you look back as you career as a PC gamers, what is the one definative game that you can say made you into a PC gamer?

For me I think it has to be Quake. It was the first time I ever played online multiplayer, I guess it hooked me.

I'm going to have to lump mine together and say Lucas Arts Adventure games. Indiana Jones Fate of Atlantis, Full Throttle, Day of The Tentacle, and The Dig were big parts of my childhood.

A CD of 300 classic PC games, with games like Dooom, Wolfenstein, Jet Man, God of Thunder, SkyRoads. It was a bargain bin compilation of good ol' classics. Having to use DOS and understanding the installation process and so forth intrigued me and made me stay as a PC gamer to this day.

Duke Nukem, I remember watching my brother playing it when I was small and as soon as I hit 4 years old I was on his computer playing it. I've been a PC Gamer ever since.

I received a CD with several demos. Included on the disk, was Half-Life: Uplink.
I played, I completed, I was blown away.

I played the original Command and Conquer a little bit before, and it got me into RTS (I played it over my friend's when I went over), but Half-Life was the game that really got me into PC gaming.

MechWarrior 3 was also on the CD. I owned and loved that game too, but unfortunately I no longer possess it. I guess it's up to ebay now...

The early Command and Conquer games. For a good while those were the only PC games I had apart from Doom.

Haha, I remember the Oregon Trail game... but I suppose I wasn't really a heavy PC gamer until Age of Mythology and some online MMORPGs [that's how I roll]. Now my tastes are a little broader, but consoles have always seemed a bit limited to me.

I had just gotten my ps2 when I went to turkey for like 3 weeks and they had internet cafe's and I decided to check out what the games there were like. 5 hours later I still couldn't stop playing counter strike 1.6 or GTA3. so yeah, thats what got me into pc gaming

Counter-Strike (beta, not 1.6) got me into PC games, actually. 1.6 is still one of the best FPS' out there, Source is an absolute disgrace to the 'franchise'. But it wasn't only Counter-Strike, it was an army of factors that made me a PC gamer. My dad builds PCs, brother is a huge PC gamer, etc, so I was bound to become one. I'm glad I did.

Jedi Academy. It was also the first online game I played and the first game I experimented with mods.

I kind of stopped being a mainstream PC gamer as of late 2007 though, but seriously. all I want is another Jedi Knight game. best online Star Wars game ever.

I wasn't a big PC gamer till recently, probably around the time I got Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3 (Best christmas evar) I mean, I've always used my PC for Age of Empires and Ut2k4, but I never really considered myself a PC gamer.

Civilization 1. I was like, three years old at the time and I didn't understand a word of English (I'm Finnish btw) and the game was overly complex for me, but it made me love complex & deep (aka PC) games. I never even knew that consoles existed until PS1/N64 era, and PC gaming is the only way for me since I've grown up with it. Thief was the game that really made me a "hardcore" PC gamer though, before that gaming was just a way to pass time, but after that it became more like an obsession. Hence my signature, "PC gaming til' I die." :P

It wasnt a single game that made me into a PC gamer. Instead I was dissatified with the consoles back in the late 90s. Short time later I bought my first computer with my own money then from then on I was hooked onto PC gaming.

It's a three way tie: Doom (played with my dad when I was 6; Sweet sweet nostalgia), Winroids (Played in my dad's office and we would always laugh and mimic the 'woo-hoo!' upon level completion), and Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness because it's the first thing in my life I every saved up the money to buy, doing little things like sweeping the walk for a nickel and saving the money I had in an envelope in my parents room. There was a great feeling of satisfaction when I finally brought that huge box home, paid for by yours truly [partially. I think I put forth about $5 and my dad $35, but I had put a ton of effort into it].

Oh man, ages ago. No one's probably heard of this game, though it was popular back then :P

I gamed a bit before for sure, but really crap games like DRIVER, the only good one was FF7 on PC.

But the game that REALLY got me into PC gaming, was Bid For Power (2001) - Quake 3 mod. Good ol' days.
