i prefer starcraft. i dont like dawn of war mainly because the camera view is to close to the action,

This is one of the stupidest comparisons i have ever seen. Your comparing 2 completely different RTS' that have a 6 year span in between. Starcraft being released in 1998, and Warhammer in 2004.

Starcraft is much more about managing bases and resources, and Warhammer is how fast u can build your army. Starcraft is more about micro managing single units to prevent them from dieing, especially in the begining of the game, while in DoW you have squads, and can't micro every unit.

Lets make this comparison again when Starcraft 2 comes out and see who wins.

Also, why are you comparing Starcraft to DoW? They have a 6 year difference. Starcraft is amazing because at such an infancy, it grew to be the best game ever, yes its dying down but people still play it today (couple million everytime I log on)

I have Starcraft but only played the first three missions because it got boring quickly and I'm a graphics whore. Is that what the ENTIRE game is about?! How can sending people in power armor to mine crystals and gas be the bestgame ever? :( So Warhammer is actually about combat and warfare? I'm sold then.

i adore both games, but i play more on DoW -- apart from the extremely tight and ferocious gameplay, Warhammer 40k simply has a deeper lore, which i read to tetter. I can often relate to the units i control as inhow they look and react. overall it's just a more immersed experience.

what Starcraft does better than DoW is the perfect faction balance. even after almost a decade, it's still one of the most well thought RTSs in the market. no game has yet tocreate that perfect state of balance -- in a way, Starcraft is still the king of RTS.

Hats off to starcraft.. I am sorry, Dawn of War is a great game don't get me wrong.. But suffers hugely by its completley limited multiplayer.. TO make a comparison Blizzard would have had to released Starcraft witha really laggy multiplayer, only 2 dozen maps (no downloaded for thos emaps and very hard to make more), limited gameplay options (no UMS's) and hug emaps turning into a spam fest half the time..

Not saying its a bad game, the reason why I am critizing it so much is because I like teh game and it could have been so much more.

I know that sounded really stupid. :P I don't think I can stand a game that the entire point is to gather resources while protecting your important buildings.

How could you compare a philosophic story of a universal war with a deficient story?!

In "DOW",you have seven totally different races with extremly optimizations on every squad available.In "Starcraft" you upgrade all your units with the same option.You can't even personalize units with different kind of weapons or armors.

Well the two RTS are completely different but if you consider them both Starcraft is very good story and RTS but I would play DOW any day so my vote goes to you know who...

Holy crap this is the first poll I've seen ever be COMPLETELY EVEN! (may not be at time of this post though.)

I love DoW's gameplay way more and I like the 40k series alot, they are both excellent RTS's, but DoW got my vote (a while ago too, it was winning at the time, now it's a dead heat!), but I'd rather not post a huge wall of text explaining why I like DoW better, and the "pros of starcraft" at the same time.
