I may not enjoy most of their attempts at games (except Fallout 3), but they sure pulled a big one this time, enjoy guys that saved the 50% off coupons till now :P.

I'll delete the DLC part, didn't have enough room to add free :P. Shame there're no mod files on the workshop yet, as soon as the most important mods get added, I'll be sure to start playing the game, who knows I might end up liking it, they deserve another chance after they worked so hard on everything besides the actual Skyrim game. The high-res texture pack is free btw. Your title confused me a bit.

Probably all the internet is downloading it, there's no major release today yet I can't get over 120 kb :(.I'm excited to try the HD textures pack. Has anyone tried it yet?

Getting a new Graphics card in August so I'll download the Texture Pack then. I can only run skyrim on medium. My specs are great it's the GPU that's holding me back in almost everything.

Ouch, well now you all will have to suffer as I always have (180 kb/s max 24/7). :(
Yep, went to 10% after that I can't continue on any region (constant "Steam servers can't handle etc"), tried to download other games and they work just fine, no problems.Anyone else having trouble getting the textures DLC?
vfibsux
Yeah I keep getting "servers are too busy to handle your request" when I try to launch Skyrim. Also where do you actually download the textures ? Chris_53It's listed as a (free) DLC, should be under Skyrim at the DLC section or the first entry on the Steam store at "New Releases"

Works again 80 kb/s, yep, giving up on waiting for it :P will just start to play some random Steam games (shame you don't have an option to continuously download while playing games, even if that's how Steam "used" to work normally).
It's listed as a (free) DLC, should be under Skyrim at the DLC section or the first entry on the Steam store at "New Releases" I did that, but it didnt actually download anything, it just says I own it but I cant find it.Oh well, I shell give it a few minutes.[QUOTE="Chris_53"]Yeah I keep getting "servers are too busy to handle your request" when I try to launch Skyrim. If you pressed "play" after you "purchased" it then it should have started to download it and it probably has if you're getting the server error, but it didn't initialize properly since for now, downloading it isn't working that great.DanielDustMakes sense. I just clicked Play Now the moment I saw it. If I go to purchase it, it just says it cannot be added to my cart. I understand the servers are busy, but I hope I havnt lost it.

It's not downloading for me at all. Just says I bought it for the game but I don't see it downloading anything.

What?i have a dozen of mods installed...what do you talk about?Quality mods...Most of the hq textures mods will not be re-done even when CK comes out...they are already good enough...and some gameplay mods like Skyrim wars and Midas magic ...

You aren't keeping up with the times, yo.I know, but considering the speed, it's not worth doing that, I doubt I'll be playing it in the next 4 hours.[QUOTE="rhazzy"]I'll delete the DLC part, didn't have enough room to add free :P. I had over 50 when I re-installed it with 1.4 to start fresh and get rid of all the possible mod-game version problems, just because they exist it doesn't mean there's a single one on Steam Workshop, the mods won't be "re-done", they'll be imported and hosted on the cloud. ("as soon as the most important mods get added"=/= as soon as some quality mods get created now that we have the creation kit)Yeah, I saw this on a thread on the System Wars forum, they are almost exactly the same as the original textures. Talk about "surprise" eh ? This is disappointing, it really feels like a teaseThe dlc texture pack is garbage, to anyone who might be downloading it, it's hardly worth your time :P

It looks better than vanilla. Until someone with the talent of Qarl upgrades all textures, it's the best we'll have. All other modders care about is resolution, not consistency (or even good taste).

What about the 2K textures ?I love the way PC gamers are treated.. like real gamers. Plus, this workshop thing, this is going to be gold for Steam if they start charging for one or two mods.
Don't forget to go to tools and right click to install the creation kit in steam :) It's very small so downloads fast. Also here are some links to get you started with it:

Taking this image as en example, it ruins the carpet pattern, the wooden floor looks like a bunch of new planks swollen with water hanging on top of a dark abyss instead of the neat old and polished floor it's supposed to be and the part near the carpet is a poorly cut texture that you won't be able to unsee.
A good texture pack must be consistent with the art styIe IMO. A pixel overload and exaggerated depth do nothing for me. It seems to me that the maker of the 2K pack made the wooden floor without thinking what an old wooden floor actually looks like. He just saw wood and wasted his time on high-definition wood.

Didn't notice till now but that is good. Maybe we will see some gore :P
Well mods started to get posted on the workshop and if somebody didn't notice this.
A little joke from Beth and Valve.
Has anybody used this with the 2K HD texture pack? I'm wondering if we need one or the other, or if they compliment each other.
