----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rule is quite simple. Just rate the rig (or the specs of the pc) above you . The lowest rating is 1 and the highest is 10. This is basically a thread for people who want to know other people's thoughts on their rig or just for people who want to discuss their rig. You can post a picture of your rig and the specs but posting the specs would be just fine.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will be using this rig mostly for studies and learning video game programming on Unity 3D but I already have quite a few games and some of them are Skyrim (I play on high settings), Dota 2, Minecraft and League of Legends. There are still more than ten I haven't mention plus I'll be putting Arkham Origins, Red Alert 3 , Fallout 4 and Black Ops 3. I am not a gamer but I do on planning to mod the crap out of Skyrim. I'm quite confident it won't crash with all those NPC overhauls, graphic enhancers and unofficial patches.

Specs:

Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 2333

GPU: NVIDIA GTX 460

Processor: Intel i7 Quad-Core

RAM: 4GB (but screw that http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/new-testing-suggests-pc-games-dont-need-more-than-4gb-of-ram/)

Storage: Local Disk is around 170GB and the Drive around 350GB.

Oh, awesome thread!

Above PC, 2/10. Sorry, but I don't know what CPU you're using.

My PC (I just put my rig together using PCPartPicker since it's easier than listing every part, and I couldn't post a picture):

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jqBZxY

Note: I will be selling my 980Ti, and upgrading to most likely a 1070 when it releases.

EDIT: Now that I know the above PC's CPU, it's new rating of mine is a 5/10.

@battlestreak: Thanks!

You better change that rating mate cause I'm running an Intel i7 quad core. :0

As for your PC, I'll give it an 8.

Nice I guess, lol.

I'm not that good at rating rigs because it all depends on what kind of gaming usage you are planning on putting it through.

Well I'll go ahead and rate @doozie78 's rig then. I give it a 9/10, top-notch parts indeed. I'd give it a 10 but I usually avoid rating with an absolute perfect score. :P

@horgen:

8/10 - Would have given a 9 but PSU is overkill...why the 1300W? Other than that, close to top notch performance for a reasonable price. The G1 is bonkers!

My PC(s):

Gaming PC - Lian Li PC-08WX, i7-6700k 4.4ghz w/ H105, 16GB Dominator Platinum DDR4 3000, EVGA 980 Ti SC (soon to add a second), EVGA G2 1000, MSI Z170A SLI Plus, Samsung 850 EVO V-Nand 500gb, Intel 730 Series 240gb

HTPC and Productivity - In Win 901, i5-4690k, 8GB Hyper X 1866, EVGA 750 G2, 1TB SSD, Intel 530 120gb SSD, ASUS Z97i Plus. No GPU yet.

@wizard:

Obvious 10 for your gaming rig, 5 for your HTPC - lopped off 2 minimum for no GPU.

Case: Bitfenix Prodigy

MB: AsRock Z77 ITX

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770 (Ivy Bridge) 4 x 3.4 GHz

RAM: Kingston HyperX 8 GB DDR 3

GPU: GeForce GTX 970

HDD: Western Digital Black 2TB

Peripherals:

Logitech G105 keyboard

Logitech G602 mouse

Wireless Xbox 360 controller

Sennheiser HD515 headphones

I'll be happy with a 6 or a 7.

@wizard: Nice picture.

I hadn't planned to buy a PSU with that high wattage, however it was so close in price to G2 1000W so I thought why not. What I didn't mention in my post is that I also have an older GPU running full 24/7. I do a lot of folding for folding at home. So I got a bios modded GTX 680 pulling some power. Everything is water cooled so I got a pump and 12 extra fans to power because of that :P

Memory - 12 GB Gskill @ 1866 mhz

Built it in Sept 2014. Seen no reason to upgrade.

I am also building a bartop arcade. I am just waiting for the power supply and speakers to be delivered before I finish it.

For the bartop arcade I went low end.

8.5/10. I see no reason for you to upgrade now either, plus you could always do it on the cheap with another 8gb of RAM and overclocking the CPU.

I built a new rig last weekend and these are the main parts. I have a 970 as a placeholder until the non-reference 1080s come out. I haven't overclocked yet because I prefer to stick with stock speeds for a year or two. My old case was a £40 Coolermaster so it's so nice to have one with some quality cable-management.

@whalefish82 Hmmm...I'm going to say 7.5 to 8.0 with the current parts. Closer to 8 if you've got some speedy ssd's, or an m.2 and the GTX 970. Once you get your 1080, it's easily 8.5-9+ depending on the other little goodies you add (cooling, etc.,).

Mine copied from my sig:

CPU - i7 6700k @ 4.8GHz with Corsair H110 280mm Liquid Cooler

MOBO - ASUS Z170-A

Storage - 4x Crucial MX200 500GB SSD's

GPU - SLI MSI GTX 980Ti's Gaming 6GB

Memory - 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 @ 2668 MHz

PSU - Corsair RM 850 Gold+

Misc - Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speakers, Acer Predator XB271HU 2560x1440p 144hz G-Sync and a couple of extra fans because I like the way they look. =D

I'll give that a sexy/10. I almost bought that case.

I bought all of this except for the video cards because they're not out yet. Rampage V Edition 10 just got preordered on Newegg. I'll add two more EVO's after I'm not broke.

@whitey_rolls: BenQ FP241W, $1000 top of the line monitor, but it died on Sunday after 10yrs, so I'm left using a cheap HP 23vx until a monitor I like comes along.

24-26" 100Hz+ IPS/OLED, 10bit colour minimum, 1200p or 1440p with DP/DVI/2x HDMI ports and at least 2 USB ports. Those are must haves for me, anything else is a bonus.

  • ^Cheap Monitor: -1/10. I give 9 credits for your old monitor but since it died, I deduct 8 credits..... so that now brings you to 0/10
  • I'll go ahead and give you + 1 credit for your dream monitor you mentioned. You now have 1/10.
  • But I didn't see you mention your rig....so I deduct 1 credit. You are now back to 0/10 in my book :)

*Edit: I now saw where you mentioned your specs. But the rules are for rating for above post....so rules are rules so I can't give any credit now.

@saintsatan: Damn, that is one monster PC! ROG Swift is great from what I've heard, and with 2 GTX 1080s, you'll be set for a long while. 9.5/10, only curious as to why you need 32 GB of RAM and at 3200. Kind of overkill, but to each his own :)

As for me, a bit more modest of a build. Made it last summer for gaming at 1080p. Wanted to max out all settings and have it play games at decent settings for at least a few years.

^^^ 7/10 Nice system

@saintsatan Yours gets a solid "still in the shop/10" :) Seriously though that'll be a fine system which will definitely score a "f*cking expensive/10"

Mine

  • i7 4770: 4.3Ghz CPU
  • Corsair H105i cooler with Aerocool Fans
  • Gygabyte Motherboard (I can never remember mobo numbers :) )
  • 16GB Avexir 2400 DDR3 Ram
  • Zotac 980Ti Amp Extreme GPU
  • Superflower 1000w PSU
  • Samsung 250Gb SSD
  • 1x 1TB HD, 1x 2Tb HD
  • Asus ROG Swift 27" monitor
  • Logitech G19 Keyboard
  • Roccat Tyon Mouse
  • Corsair 5.1 Gaming headset
  • Thrustmaster Warthog Flight system
  • Wrapped up in a Corsair 600T white case

I wanted all 8 slots filled. x99 works best when the ram is spread out as much as possible. Yeah it's a big waste of money but it wasn't expensive. $125 on a $6k build ain't gonna hurt. Parts are starting to come in...

8/10 The nice peripherals and quality parts jumped it up a notch

  • 4.2GHz Phenom II X4 w/ 3GHz IMC
  • 8GB DDR3 @ 1667MHz (7-7-7-13-1)
  • Radeon HD 7950 @ 1.2GHz w/ 3GB VRAM
  • 750w OCZ Fatal1ty + 550w OCZ Fatal1ty
  • 2x D-Tek Fuzion II waterblocks
  • 4x 120mm 152cfm Delta fans in case
  • 4x 120mm 130cfm Delta fans on Hayden 403 transmission cooler
  • 2x 250gph pumps
  • Rosewill Thor v2 case
  • 42" Haier 1080p HDTV
  • 23" Acer 1080p monitor
  • E-Blue Mazer II gaming mouse
  • A-Jazz keyboard w/ red or blue LED keys

It's a bit old, but it still maxes just about every game at 1080p/60Hz. I'm waiting for Summit Ridge (Zen) and Vega 10 and deciding then what CPU and GPU I am upgrading to.

I'll give that a sexy/10. I almost bought that case.

I bought all of this except for the video cards because they're not out yet. Rampage V Edition 10 just got preordered on Newegg. I'll add two more EVO's after I'm not broke.

Mine is coming along. If only I could find some 1080's in stock...
