Phantasmagoria II: The Puzzle of Flesh is still one of the better games to come out of the FMV craze.

Recently I re-finished witcher 1, KOTOR 2 and currently re-finishing Vapire: Bloodlines. So yea. The pc has the greatest library of any platform.

I recommend that you shop at GOG.com if you want older titles in general. I know they don't have the games you specifically mentioned, but for older games in general they offer so much better service to make sure they work on modern systems than Steam. To answer your question, yes. Most of the games I've bought this year have been on GOG and most of the games I've bought on Steam have been older or indie. Some good ones would be Thief, Deus Ex, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and The Chronicles of Riddick. If you want some different genres, Neverwinter Nights 2, and Evil Genius are two of my favorite games that people rarely seem to talk about.

If you have a graphics control center a la Nvidia I suggest you crank up all the graphical enhancement options and include the high resolution mod for KotOR 2 if you havent, and finally add the restored content mod, higher quality music mod and the higher resolution cinematics mod. Enjoy KotOR 2 in a fairly fresh package.

Edit: for VtMB: Bloodlines, same thing except add the unofficial patch and the better clans mod. 32x CSAA and 16x anisotropic filtering among other graphical enhancements can do a lot for older 3D games.

Edit: typo.

I'm likely the only person who tells people this, but play Ys.  Ys Origin, I and II Chronicles and Oath in Felghana all kick ass!

Other than that, I'm replaying Half-Life 2 myself.  It's still boss.

I´ve been playing Battlezone(1998) recently, still an amazing game to this day and one of my all time favourites, there´s still a fairly active community for the online side of the game(though I only care for the single player myself),you can check them out here and you can get the installer for the game from there as well, fully compatible with recent OS´s.

It´s a really good game, everyone should have a go at it at least once.

Older games I've seen on the Steam sale that I would recommend would be System Shock 2, Ys, Vampire Bloodlines, KOTOR, and Thief Collection. On GOG I would get all the D&D games Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter, Temple of Elemental Evil, and Planescape. Fallout, Fallout 2, Jagged Alliance 2, Age of Wonders, and Arcanum.

That was a great game, haven't played it for years but loved it, but I believe it was released in 2000 during the Golden Age of PC Gaming (1997 - 2000).

As for me, I'm playing Baldurs Gate 2 again as well as Thief 2 for the first time. Strangely enough I believe these 2 games came out in 2000 as well!

Everybody plays old games because the new games aren't released yet :P

Anyway, I play more old games because they are timeless to me. I get more enjoyment out of them.

EDIT : A few I'll recommend!

1. Sonic Adventure 2
2. Jet Set Radio
3. Duke Nukem 3D
4. Shadow Warrior

Recently bought a few older games that I would definitely recommend, Clive Barker's Undying (horror FPS), Silent Storm Gold (turned base strategy), and System Shock 2 (sci-fi/horror fps). All are classics and well worth a play through.

I bought Cannon Fodder 1+2 in the GOG summer sale. Loved them back in the day only problem is the first game doesn't have the theme at the start that the Amiga version did.

I've been playing Postal 2 which is awesome and hilarious though the graphics are really dated. Just downloaded System Shock 2 as well since I've heard its a major classic.
