Depends on the game and on your Cpu ( if its not bottlenecking the gpu ) Depending on the situation and amount of OC you will anywhere from 0 up to 15-20% ( usually with a decent OC 7-8% ) Also no way you can get gtx670/7950 performance with OC. At most you are looking 7870 performance with heavy overclocking

My cpu is core i7 3770k so thats not a prob

GPu temps on 100% load are 52C on 3dmark/heavy shaders on games

So i think that gives me a lot of headroom but how much speed should i aim?

Every card is unique so you might get a 150+ on core, or end up with maybe 15+ tops...you need to test and try it.

7850 @1Ghz 4GB GDDR5 rivals "7870 Ghz Edition" 2GB GDDR5.

Go for "7870 XT"(and overclock) if you want a GPU that can rival 7950. http://www.techradar.com/au/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/graphics-cards/sapphire-radeon-hd-7870-xt-1130535/review

Leave the voltage alone and overcclock and test until its not stable then you you increase the voltage.

BSOD not good, you test with apps like furmark or evga OC stability test etc.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1265110/the-gtx-670-overclocking-master-guide

This is the best possible guide on overclocking, I know because it helped me and I never even tried to OC anything before. And it also applies to every GPU on market. It includes what programs to use to test your OC for stability, how to get your card to its max 2% and how to set up a good fan curve to keep temps. from reaching 90C-95C. It's also really simple and teaches you what the abbrevations mean. If you still have problems you can message me on a PM or via email if you want.
