I've used all of those browsers - opera when it had ads, IE until version 6, Firefox since version 0.6, chrome about a week ago- but I decided stick with Firefox since it has several addons that other browsers do not have. I'll probably install opera to see how it has changed throughout the years.

Firefox does what is necessary without the use of addons too. Addons just makes it so much more customizable and include a ton of cool features.

I have used Opera for a year up until now. The reason I switched was because Opera could not handle multiple multi-online streaming without crashing frequently. Also was the fact that I disliked having to switch to IE everytime I wanted to torrent, since Opera did not allow me to have uTorrent as my default torrent program. Needless to say, Opera torrent solution was inefficient.

Firefox fixed all of that and more.

Opera all the way. It's faster than IE and FF and more secure, definetly more stable than IE(not sure about FF3). IE for backup.

Google chrome makes me nervous and cautious as in the contract you accept with it, it says when you use googles' Chrome browser, the contract says that anything you make/do with chrome is then owned by google. I'm not sure exactly what that could mean for many users, but its not good, so i don't use it. It is a great web browsing browser for a netbook tho.

Firefox.

I've been having some issues with downloads though. Firefox freezes for about 2 minutes whenever I start a download and the Downloads window comes up. After I close the window it stops freezing up.

Chrome's been the fastest for me. The only thing I had to do was the mod to get it to open hotmail. Besides that it's noticeably faster than any browser I've ever used.

When I came here i knew FireFox would have the most votes as its so over hyped. I have used all the common web browsers and i find Opera to be far better than any other, its just that not many people know about it.

P.S. THANX for not putting saffari on the list, it would have to be the worst ive used, It hella slow and just horrible.

I've used Firefox for a good while now. Have tried Opera (of course IE), Netscape and some other ones I forget the names now. I have never used google chrome but have heard of it since release, but I choose not to, FF does everything I need in a browser, no need for change.

Primarily: Firefox 3. The metric ton of available plugins and extra stuff I've been able to add to it makes it hard to want to use anything else. Safari is actually not bad at all... I just wish that there was more in the way of third-party plugin support, because I could see it making a fine alternative/replacement for Firefox otherwise. IE I pretty much only use with Windows/Microsoft Update nowadays.

Before Chorme I was using Firefox. I have Opera, Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome now but on 95% of the time I use Chorme, and all other is FIrefox. I find Chorme fastes, most secured, with good pop-up control, simple interface, and great build-in interface for web desingers. And, as most of people do not find last one important, I thing it is great that Chrome has it. Firefox is great too, it is more stable than Chrome with better add-on support, but all in all Chorme is better, Opera is 3rd with not mutch to say about it, and Internet Explore comes last with very slow browsing, and bad tab support (beta looks better but it is buggy so till next stable version I hardy see using it).

What web-browser do you use? Why do you use it, and prefer one over the other?

I thaught it would be interesting to see what people prefer to use, so i thaught i'd make a poll on it.

matte3560

I use Chrome, Firefox3 and IE8.

I was mosting us chrome as it is the fastest but I had inability to cut and paste stuff. Firefox was much the same with it's inability to cut and paste. So I went back to IE8 which is a lot faster and a lot more stable than IE7 was.

No it's works some of the time but not all of the time. It was the biggest problem I had with Chrome which was the worst at it's inability to copy something and paste it in forums and that was on either computer I have.

Um, yah...I have no problem copy/pasting anything in FF3. If a certain "website" won't let you, just use CTRL-C to copy and CTRL-V to paste, simple enough.

At first, I used Avant Browser, then I moved to Firefox back around v0.9 or so.. I stayed with FF up until FF3, and just recently switched to Google Chrome a couple months ago and use that as my primary browser, with IE7 as a backup for sites that require it.

Google Chrome on the laptop, I love it, fast, stable and simple. IE7 is slow, unstable and spams like a mofo. Firefox is pretty darn decent and I use it on my gaming PC for the addons, and ofc because its more set in stone then Google Chrome at this point.

Opera all the way, it´s one of the web browsers that follows the W3C standards perfectly. (You can prove it by running the Acid3 test on opera 10, and get a score of 100%!, compared to the terrible 10%-20% i.e. gets).

Firefox is a good web browser, but too much resource consuming compared to Opera. And by the way, all of those listed are far better then I.E.

IE7. I've tried to switch to Firefox twice, and couldn't stand it. Sure, it may be more secure, but it looked like a polished turd.

Google Chrome was cool and I used that for a little while, but I always seem to return to IE7.

You don't even need to open IE anymore because of Firefox's addons, Firefox hands down. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

Are you on the dev channel? Haha.. I think that version's up to 100% on Acid3 too. The regular version's at 80% or something.
Sure, it may be more secure, but it looked like a polished turd.Gammit10
It's not really more secure anymore. If you run the NoScript addon that helps a ton, but otherwise viruses and such are going in via vulnerabilities that hit IE and FF3 equally.
