LOL! This must be a joke. I mean, seriously, look at the GTX 480 SLI numbers. Almost all of them are triple digit increases.
They must have done something wrong with the calculations.
Hey guys...I have a question and wanted to know your opinion. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have a sager laptop with a gtx 485m, but this graphic card doesn't seem to have any form of driver updates to speak of. I visited the sager website and found a driver posted there but that was updated on the 11th of January. As the TC pointed out Nvidia released the 270.51 beta drivers, they also released the 270.51 verde beta drivers for their notebook gfx cards.
In the driver details, it says that the card supports all 400M series cards...but the gtx 485M isn't listed. I've read that the GTX 470M sports the same architecture as the GTX 485M and the driver supports that particular card. I wanted your advice on whether I can download and use this driver on my laptop without experiencing any compatibility issues or errors. I apologize if the question is a bit vague.
I've also read on forums where a few users have said that modifying the .ini file on a beta drivers supporting the gtx 470m seems to work with the 485m.
Well if thoes cards were getting crappy frames before (heard nvidiacards werehaving a ton of trouble with DA2,) then those numbers aren't out of reach. Could've been getting like 25FPS and now its like 100 or so.
516% performance increase in DA2 on GTX 580?!!? Damn... Sounds almost impossible if you ask me.JohnF111
Not at all impossible, in fact 500% is quite a moderate increase from playing DA2 on 2xGTX580s (which I have), the game is totally unplayable and is more like a collection of still frames (I would guess about 5-10 fps). I have had to disable SLI for DA2 in order to play it and it still can't be played on the highest settings @ 1920x1080. Somebody (either Bioware or Nvidia) really dropped the ball on this game.
I upgraded to GTX580 SLI from GTX275 SLI and I'm mostly very much not impressed with the performance boost this far (I'm thinking bad or unoptimized drivers) except in certain games (JC2 benchmarks run rocksolid at everything maxed but Crysis chugs along at the exact same fps as my GTX275s did, if I click recommended settings the game suggests Very High with 4aa and if I put it on Extreme at 4aa the fans crank up enough to rattle the fillings in my neighbour's teeth.

There must be something wrong. I too came from a GTX 275 SLi setup, and mine were the SSC edition from EVGA. I'm now on a single GTX 570 with a little bit of overclock, and I noticed an increase of about 15 frames in Crysis, and most games are much more stable.Edit: They were the FTW edition 275's, not SSC's.
^^
It feels like there is something wrong somewhere, I agree with that. But the cards show up in the device managar and the nvidia control panel (yes, set to SLI) and I'm getting excellent frames in Just Cause 2 but in most other games it's either the same or the fans spin up so hard it's ridiculous. I had the illusion that not only would I get a sizable increase but also that the GTX580 SLI would be so powerful they wouldn't be pushed to their max heat (=high fan noise). Further investigation required.
Wow, a driver version where the picture scaling modes (for old games) actually work like they're supposed to. Let's see how long it lasts this time..

5760x resolution in 3d surround, quite a distinct setting.
Uhm sorry, but I'm a new nvidia user... how are beta drivers? I just got my GTX 560Ti last night... should I get the beta or just wait for the official release of that driver?trastamad03
Up to you, really. There's no harm in trying out the beta drivers though. If they don't work for you, just clean them out from your PC and re-install the WHQL ones.

will do... the beta improves performance for my new baby :D so i might as well give a try!Sorry if this has been stated, but for GTX570 users, have you experienced an increase in performance ? Chris_53Everybody seems to notice a difference in DA2 and I _thought_ I would notice a difference in MW2, but it still stutters every now and then; not sure if it's the server or the card.
In DA2 in particular, my GTX 280 went from pretty much unplayable @ anything DX11 to fine w/ high + AA.[QUOTE="Makari"][QUOTE="szafto"]Will i get a peformance increase on my GTX 260?cfwin
?? Shouldn't DX11 on a GTX280 be forever unplayable since the card doesn't supportDX11?
DX11 is backwards compatible with DX10.
This beta driver increased the performance for DX11 Very High, but doesn't do anything for DX11 High (55-60fps). I was hoping this beta driver would lock DX11 High at 60fps. Very High is now playable with max settings.. but still an undesirable frame rate. Elann2008
Is the artifacting gone?

No, it just doesn't use the DX11 features (vhigh) - DX10 stuff still works (high). Very High and the associated features are just greyed out.[QUOTE="cfwin"][QUOTE="Makari"] In DA2 in particular, my GTX 280 went from pretty much unplayable @ anything DX11 to fine w/ high + AA.Makari

For me, it's far and gone. :DGames ived tested so far with my gtx570
Just Cause 2 -DX10(old drivers) - resolution 1920@1080,2xAA,everything else set to max. 41-45 fps average
Just Cause 2 -DX10(new beta drivers) - resolution 1920@1080,2xAA,everything else set to max. 45-50 fps average
BF Bad Comapany 2 -DX11(old drivers) - resolution 1920@1080,no AA,everything else set to max. fps was jumping all over the place from 40 to 60...and an annoying bug: fire was flickering
BF Bad Company 2 -DX11(new beta drivers) - resolution 1920@1080,no AA,everything else set to max. fps is still jumping all over the place :)...BUT...BUT...not that much...now i have 60 fps constant...for example in some areas where with the older drivers i was getting 40 fps now i get 60...the game is much smoother now...Oh and the fire flickering is gone.(tested only in multiplayer)
NFS Shift 2 Unleashed -DX9(old drivers) - resolution 1920@1080,no AA,everything else set to max. fps anywhere between 50-60...
NFS Shift 2 Unleashed -DX9(new beta drivers) - resolution 1920@1080,no AA,everything else set to max. now i get a constant 60 fps...most of the time...there are still some drops now and then but nothing that would bother me...
P.S. I dont have Crysis installed to make a comparison...but i think i will install it...just to see if there is any improvement...As for DA 2 or Crysis 2 i dont care how much improvment there is...i wont play this games ever in my life...so i cant help you there.

The DX10 option in dragon age 2 is called DX11, but you can't choose very high if you have a dx10 card.[QUOTE="Makari"][QUOTE="cfwin"]

Sorry if this has been stated, but for GTX570 users, have you experienced an increase in performance ? Chris_53the gain is around an extra 5 - 10 FPS.
The performance increse in Da2 is great, but the scaling is F up. had to revert to 266 drivers, I should have stuck with my 6970, I returned it yesterday for a gtx580 but nivida drivers suck, I didnt have to mess with the settings at all with the 6970, I play on a 52' 1080p tv. Been messing with these nvida drivers since I brought the 580 home. Make some decent fn drivers
I've had zero issues with drivers for my GTX 580. However I haven't tried the latest one. I'm not crazy about betas. :PThe performance increse in Da2 is great, but the scaling is F up. had to revert to 266 drivers, I should have stuck with my 6970, I returned it yesterday for a gtx580 but nivida drivers suck, I didnt have to mess with the settings at all with the 6970, I play on a 52' 1080p tv. just got sonw putting my gtx 480 into my loop, it's sitting at 29c idle going to check my load temps in a bit.

My FPS doesn't seem to dip below 40 or 50 fps anymore. Before I would have times where the fps would dip down into the high teens. The game looks butter smooth at all times now. I play at 1440 x 900 btw with 4x AA and 16 AF, High Res Pack, Ambient occlusion, advanced depth of field on very high settings of course DX11.
