I have the experience to repair/replace parts. But never have I tried my hand at creating my own pc from scratch. With that in mind, I would love some suggestions/advice for a decent budget pc. I don't need a monitor, mouse, keyboard, GPU, or dvd burner (I have these already) Would like to stay around $600-700 (give or take).

Motherboard: One vote for Asrock, I only know Asus. Don't know anything about MSI or Gigabyte. :P

Do I need heatsinks? Coolants? etc.

Thank you everyone. :D

Go for a modular psu, you'll prolly need some artic silver (thermal paste) and of course the often over looked zip ties for cable management

Sorry, what does this mean? :)

I see what you mean now. Funny, I did not see the 2500k when I was browsing through. Fixed the OP.

Overclocking, to my knowledge means that you make it pump out more juice for better performance for more heat production. Meaning you need a lot to keep it from overheating. Am i correct?

Add a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ ($50) CPU Cooler (so you can overclock) and a 80+ rated name brand PSU and you should be money. It would help to know what GPU you have to help us recommend a PSU wattage rating.

EDIT: Yes, Mrjoe_95, overclocking is increasing your CPUs speed. You will want to do this with the i2500k because it was made with legs and likes to run :)

I know my GPU is kind of old, but I'm hesitant to upgrade. But it is an Arctic Cooling Accelero X2 (nothing else labeled on the card.)

lol, you can tell I'm new to this. That apparently was the heatsink. Looking up the serial number, I think it's a Radeon x1800xt

yea its the same. For some reason newegg is price gouging. Even the last review says they bought theirs for 29.99 the price most of recently went up there. The one from amazon is sold by tigerdirect you could just buy it straight from them. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4950641&CatId=798

Good morning all. Switched the case and the power supply to something else. And I have decided to purchase a new video card, still doing research on that. Opinions on what I chose currently and suggestions for video cards would be greatly appreciated. :)

How much do yo want to spend on the GPU? BTW everything else looks very nice...almost identical to the system I am getting in today (if UPS gets their butts in gear, lol).

lol. I am not entirely sure yet. Deciding if I want to go cheap until Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, or Diablo 3 comes out then buy a better card, or just buy a better card now. I have not gamed much on my PC lately, though, I have Witcher 1 and Fallout 3 Vegas coming in the mail. I do not mind having medium to high settings. GTX 460 I hear a lot about, but there are so many on newegg I have no clue.

What minimum PSU would I need?

Anyone have an opinion on this power supply: Silverstone Strider Essential Series ST60F-ES 600W

That PSU you have will run most single cards and some SLI/X-fire set-ups. If you want a beast that will run almost all games on highest settings go for the 6950 or 560Ti either of which can be had for as little as $225 (or cheaper!) with rebates. The 460 is a good all around card if you are want to start somewhere and upgrade later this year/early next. It will run all those games you ordered but not on highest settings I think. The best place to start is figuring out what you want to spend.
