Does turning Motion Blur ON decreases FPS?

That is dependant on the game. It made Lost Planet unplayable on my old computer for example. But at the same time the transition between frames is smoother, so you don't feel the difference so much.

motion blur actually help the fps, in theory. That why so many console games use it by blurring the background when you move to remove the pressure on the gpu. You see this in fps normally and racing games (sometime). Personnaly, I find it a crappy effect, like grain filter.Franko_3
I don't know about console games but it's a fact that motion blur decreases framerate, especially in games like Crysis.

Meh crysis is not a good example for that, but if you look at game like Mass effect (and probably l4d) you will notice the differenceI;m not really sure but I like having motion blur even if I have to reduce the quality. Then again I'm used to 10-15 FPS so.

What are you talking about?
I don't get it. I played Team Fortress 2 and Mass Effect with Motion Blur ON and the FPS has greatly increased, but when I played Lost Planet with Motion Blur HIGH the FPS dropped from 70 to 40... So Motion Blur affects the FPS depending on the game? Why that?
