A DEFINATE TREND DEVELOPING HERE. IT IS NOT AS I EXPECTED.

Demographically,
the largest population segment of gamers are 18-24 males.
Male, 20, RPGs and Sports Games
This isn't exactly a poll type topic. Asking us what age group is the plurality among age groups in a poll is like you're purposely asking us which one we think is the plurality. But which one is indeed the plurality is not subjective, it's factual. It's not up for debate, so it's not something that's really appropriate for a poll.
Now, if you were asking which age group each of us fell in in order to see what the largest demographic might be here on the PC Games forum of Gamespot, then you'd have a topic appropriate for a poll.
Anyway, I'm 19, and I like FPS the most, very closely followed by RTS and adventure games in second (they're tied), very closely followed by single player RPG's, very closely followed by old DOS 2D platformers and puzzle games.

I was thinking late 20s to early 30s on you JP_Russell. You're too clever for your age. You should get less clever or something!
Anyway, to answer the poll, most gamers are in the 18-24 age range. It was the playstation that really made gaming a full blown mainstream thing in the west, and it's a little over ten years since that bombshell hit. Those kids are now adults.
I'm 23 and my favourite genres are RTS first, FPS second (though I play a lot more FPS than RTS) and RPG third. I think RPG has the potential to be my favourite genre, but there are only two RPGs I actually like.

Heh, why, thank you. I didn't realize I was an oddity for my age. I'm not even in college yet, I'm taking a year-long break from school so I can work to save some money up... And so I don't have to deal with the will-cracking stress of it for a year.
29, been playing since the Atari 2600 & Commodore 64 baby! I like all types of games except fighting games (booooring), and I can only tolerate sports games for a while. Favorites are adventure & the sandbox type games like San Adreas & such.
I'm glad people are realizing that gaming isn't just for kids anymore. Now we just need some governments to realize this so they stop trying to censor everything under the assumption that only kids play them.
