Well I'm in the market for a new monitor and been looking at the deals for Canada day and the 24" monitors are starting to look very tasty. The only thing is, is it truely worth going to 24" monitor?

I am currently running a X1950CF and a X1900XT in crossfire and wondering, would the scaling to 1920x1080 hurt my FPS drastically?

Thanks for any help you guys have to offer.

They sure are. 24" monitors look awesome. They look that much bigger than a 22" even though it's just 2 inches they look massive.

yeah 24 inch monitors are awesome i have one and no way i could have anything smaller and btw the rez is 1920x1200 not 1920x1080(1080p) comouter monitors are 1200P a little higher then HD.

but anyways u will c a performance hit and ur cards will show there age but seeing as u have 2 u should be alright my 8800 gts 320mb stills holds it own at this rez. altough we both could use an upgrade in the near future a hd 4850 or 4870 would do u well.

24" monitors are awesome, but they are about twice as expensive as 22" monitors.

I currently game at 1680x1050 and find the performance actually very good. Most games can be run on high/very high settings (Par Crysis and Supreme Commander when there are a ton of units on the screen)

As for the price, the reason why I'm curious is there that much of a difference is due to the sales for Canada day are bringing the 22" and 24" monitors about 100 dollars apart. What I really don't want is such a performance hit that I would be regretting it until I upgraded my graphics card. (Please don't tempt me, I do like trying to keep some of my money in my savings account. :P)

And for what games I play, I'd venture to say 80% of what hits the shelf for PC games. Only a few RPGs and Simulation games don't peak my interest. So basically compare it to any game out there, except Crysis as I know the game won't be run smoothly with my hardware.

So what do you guys think?

I have a 22" at home. At work we have a 22"next to a 24" and.. there is a minimal difference (can barley tell) so for price/quality. go the 22 imo

I would get the 24" screen. One, it will look better when you can run games at 1900x1200 on a bigger screen. The difference in resolution stress on a gpu between 1680x1050 and 1900x1200 isn't HUGE. It's definitely noticeable, but it is about as much as going from 1280x1024 to 1680x1050.

Second of all, the higher resolution allows for much more screen real estate when you aren't gaming. 1900x1200 is usually enough to display two running apps side by side in window mode with as much visibility as you would have on a 19" screen (what most apps are designed for nowadays)

What'd you end up getting? I'm still deciding and like you...I wonder about performance. I like the 22" models but today I saw the 24" Samsung at Best Buy and it blew my socks off...beautiful. So....wondering what you ended up getting.

I'm using a 20" screen and it's massive to me. But whatever...I'd go with 20" because I mean who the hell needs a 24". It's like eating a huge plate of 6 cookies instead of a perfectly and satisfying plate of 2.

I never hear of PC gamers talking about using their LCD HDTV's. I have a 24" BenQ WD LCD Monitor and a 46" Samsung Series 7 LCD HDTV 1080p. Would it be wise to play on the HDTV? Has anyone tried it and had successful results?
