My wife wants to buy a Laser printer, she's only ever had inkjets and I know practicaly nothing about printers.

We've looked over the net but not sure what to go for. She wants to spend £200-250, she will be using remanufactered toner cartridges as they are a lot cheaper. It needs a document feeder and must scan/copy/fax and be colour.

Can anyone here give any recommendations or buying advice.;)

I like the HP laserjets.

Also in the end will you be spending so much less on a laser printer than an inkjet

For laser printers I wouldn't get anything other than an HP or if you are willing to spend the big bucks get a Xerox. I used to do a lot of printer support and HP's laser jets are easy to fix and the parts are cheap.

Thats the main reason we're going Laser, we spend about £50 a month on Lexmark ink at the moment!

Yeah. Inkjets are cheap but the ink is where they make their money.

I personally like HP and Brother laser printers.

Just get the cheapest B/W laser and get a more expensive colour. $30 laser printers are awesome, and when the ink runs out, recycle it and spend another $30 for a new printer.

There are seriously printers that do a solid job but the ink costs as much or more than a new one.... ecological aspects aside... it makes sense from an economic point of view.

Old HPs from like 12+ years ago are good. Their new stuff sucks. Pretty much everything they make now is garbage.

Everything about those printers except the ink and drum are bio-degradable, and mine even has a recycling logo so its fine...

It still sounds a little strange to me. I bought a $40 Samsung B/W printer for printing uni work. It came with a complimentary 700 or 800 page toner cartridge and the refill cartridge for the printer (which prints 1500 pages) is $65. Refills end up being cheaper in the end and a 1500 pages cartridge lasts me approx 2 years.

And if you buy a more expensive printer, the cartridges are even cheaper so you save over time. An expensive laser is overkill for more people though.
