Just wondering what gamers are using these days for gaming in general.

Desktop though i'll be moving to a laptop when i go to uni. However i doubt i'll be gaming much there.markop2003I go to a top 20 university majoring in neuroscience, do research (which is going to culminate in an honor's thesis and published paper by the end of this academic year), have a 3.7 GPA, study Japanese on the side, and I still have plenty of time to do whatever I want in most cases. Unless you go into a school and major that's way over your head you should have plenty of free time. As for the topic, I use both although my primary rig is a desktop. Most PC gamers though only use desktops as they're cheaper, have much more powerful components, and can be upgraded.

Learn something awesome, Japanese is only good for watching lame Anime, which is also always synonymous with child porn.
Russian is super manly.

Learn something awesome? Did you not see the part about "majoring in neuroscience"?Also, Russia is one of the world's largest producers of child porn (and not the cartoon variety but rather the "this is an actual child being raped" variety) so I don't know where you got the idea that Russian is somehow better than Japanese in that respect. Hell, even Putin is a pedophile (confirmed when he randomly pulled that little boy's shirt off and gave him a huge kiss on his stomach).

cry moar plz.PS nerves are for noobs, I have nerves of steel due to the fact I pwn at CSS with my undefined KD, because you cannot divide by 0. Also Russians have awesome gas masks, therefore they cannot be pedophiles, because they are bad ass.

Psh, CSS is for casuals. Real men play CS 1.6.If you're planning on gaming definitely a desktop, no doubt about it. Laptops for uni are overrated, most people who take them to lecture end up spending the entire time on the internet and completely miss the lecture. Traditional pencil + paper > typing notes. Missing lectures is a self-control issue.
There's MS One Note and audio recorder. My laptop's built-in microphone array is pretty good at recording in lectures/conferences.
[QUOTE="ronvalencia"][QUOTE="piercetruth34"]laptop. Just so you know, your desktop beats your laptop in gaming... by a mile.Just wondering what gamers are using these days for gaming in general.
GhoX
I'm aware of that. I plan to upgrade it to cheap Intel Quad-Core.
As for laptops, there's DIY external video card adapters i.e. http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/418851-diy-vidock-experiences.html
