I was extremely excited to get my hands on some mod tools for Skyrim this month and got a little disappointed 2 weeks in when nothing. Then they released a statement saying they still want to release in January. Now January is over and we have no info at all on them. What gives?

I've gotten 30+ hours of gameplay from it so far and have installed dozens of mods. I'm not that worried.

Avoiding negative press may be the reason. Otherwise who knows with Bethesda...

I can wait. I've already played Skyrim for 80 hours and I've moved on to other games for now. I'll definitely be making a new character and using some of the mods from the creation kit once they've gotten good. :)

I have 72 hours on it with a tonne of mods too. But I still want them. Just to play around with myself. Also they will be better than the things released so far. I left Skyrim and went on to other games but now I wanna play it again soon.

This could be a stupid question, but I can't help myself asking. How can you be installing mods when the mod tools aren't out yet? How did other people make the mods you are using?

Other mods are on the "Skyrim Nexus" most are just messing with .cfg files to make colours different. Shadows sharper etc. And other mods are HD texture packs that people made.

The creation kit is different. The other things just let you change certain parts but the creation kit will let you change everything. Its basically giving you the Skyrim engine to paly around with as far as I know

SkyEdit.

It's a community written mod based on what little compatibility there is between Skyrim's .esp files and Fallout 3 mod manager.

Even if I have some experience with the Oblivion CS, SkyEdit is *hell* to understand. I couldn't even figure out how to modify shout effects because their properties are all the same :? Those guys that made Skyrim Online or however its called and Tytanis must have gone bonkers by now.

Yeah the creation kit is supposed to be very noob friendly. Which im guessing will have like a drag and drop type system but also be pretty deep for the guy who really know what they're doing.

Will it allow custom level designs though do you think? Like a make your own level with skyrim assets?

Oblivion's CS was simple for the guy who knows what he's doing too, the scripting language was the same as the console language plus variables.

And yeah, definitely, that's the least I'd expect from an editor lol.

Yeah I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just about fiddling with the game files or modding the game only.

I wanna recreate some areas around where I live. Very dense forests and long roads with big fields. I think I could pull it off in the Skyrim editor.

I tried mudbox and cryengine/UDK but those things are very complicated and need a lot of attention which I can't give right now. So I will start off slow and small :P

Really looking forward to seeing what emerges from the editor
