Is Shogun 2 insanely hard to run or is it just me?

Ok so I pre-loaded Shogun 2 and jumped right in to start playing this morning.

After a couple hours of play I opened fraps to see what kind of fps im getting. My FPS is usually between 25-35, however in big fights ive seen it drop to 15, it also depends on how far zoomed in I am.

Is the game supposed to run like this? My graphics settings are on the "High" option and I am playing on a 1920x1080 resolution.

This would be my first Total War game, so I have never played either of those games.

Runs extremely well for me so far. Only have played an hour though.

Ultra settings, 1680x1050, 4GB of ram, Quad Core, OC 460 Cyclone and Windows 7 Ultimate.

How did it run for you on the demo?

Also FRAPS can slow down your game sometimes (I have seen this in maybe 2-3 games) to. I would try turning FRAPS off and try another graphics card driver, sometimes an older one or newer one can work better with some games.

*** Also one thing I would do is make sure ALL things are closed, if you dont know how to do this then download a program like Gamebooster that closes all uneeded things while gaming for you***

I upgraded to a 560ti with this game partially in mind. Will check back in as atm I am sitting at 98% DL'd and speed has dropped to 40kbps. FUUUUUU STEAM

Every Total War game runs terrible for me, I get 15 FPS on Napoleon Total War on Ultra with 4XAA on my 1920x1080 TV.

Shogun 2 runs butter smooth on the system in my signature. It slows down when smokea nd fire get in the picture, but not terribly slow. Empire ran like complete *** though.

Shogun2 and Napoleon ran really well for me, Empire not so much.

Running butter smooth at 1440x900 on my rig in the sig. Lowest fps... 25 FPS if I move in right on the units in a massive epic battle with dead units under them.... Lovin the game!!!! There goes 200 hrs of my life. Tried running without hyperthreading or with hyperthreading?

Only noticeable sluggishness I got was when I fought for the Shogunate. I mean, with 2000 units vs 2000 units, things are going to get slow.

There's so much going on in this game that I wouldn't be surprised at all if it chugged a little. Looks like a demanding game, more so than it not being optimized. I played the demo and I ran it smooth, with a "bit" of slow down here and there. Nothing "punch my desk" worthy.Elann2008

You're right, the game doesnt ever run THAT slow. I was just expecting more. The game is great though, im really bad, but trying to get better.

It runs better on my specs than Napoleon Total War.
