Is Sekiro a proper multiplat, or crappy port?

I ask because I was playing one of the Souls games (2?) on PC and it. was. TERRIBLE.

No mouse and keyboard controls. Well, there were, but they weren't coded in or something because it never said "WASD" or anything like that. One of the worst gaming experiences of my life.

Just wondering because I'd love to give this sub-genre another try but if it's a crap port, I won't bother.

A simple google search showed me that per many Steam reviews average 9/10 the controls are solic. Mouse/keyboard full support with bindable keys and controller binds as well. Good graphical tweaks as well as widescreen support.

I just play souls games with a controller. Steam will recognize just about any controller hooked up to your PC.

@mrbojangles25: I'd say buy a controller to play a plat game, it's always nice if such game will be controlled well via mouse + keyboard, my only worry is that it'll have poor performance

I doubt it's because of your Logitech G29, it's because you play more, most the people you race against are casual gamers.

The game plays amazing and it's a very good port when it works, but there are significantly annoying problems at present:

•the DS4 isn't supported. I had to use DS4Windows (which I use anyways and it still didn't see it, so I had to tweak around with the settings to get it to work finally). It required driver tinkering and was a bit of a hassle. DS4 button prompts are curiously included, but requires a mod to activate.

•if you have a dual monitor set-up, you'll need to physically disconnect the one you won't be using every time you play or you'll be getting around 15-20 fps.

•FOV isn't supported, can be modded in (crashes for me though).

•game is locked at 60 fps. I don't see the big deal about this one but it’s apparently important to others so if that'd bother you just be aware, though a mod can fix this.

Other than these issues it's a very good port, but it's filled with technical headaches currently. M+KB are supported and work very well, but this really is better on a controller IMO.

I'd say it's a proper multi-platform game. The only real difference between consoles and PC is the graphics settings menu (which is a shame because consoles struggle with it). And the game was obviously made with controllers in mind, which is fine

An above average piece of software on my scale I just made up now:

  1. Minimal bugs, frame rate/resolution/aspect ratio independent, cross-platform support
  2. Basically runs as expected, maybe a few quirks and issues but nothing widespread <--- Sekiro
  3. Buggy messes we've seen from a lot of major publishers these days
  4. Bottom of the barrel on Steam

I haven't had any issues at all and it runs flawlessly, except my DS4 only works when I start the game in 'Big Picture' mode.

This doesn't happen for me and I have 2 other monitors hooked up (and very much awake since I can move my mouse over there even when the display is off). I have heard reports of unexplained low frame rates for some people though.

@pyro1245: it’s strange as when I first started playing on my TV having my other monitor plugged in slowed it to a crawl. Then for some reason it worked with both in and I had no idea what I’d done. Then woke up this morning and it was back to the way it started and I have to unplug again.

I’m hoping FROM is working on a patch and will get it out ASAP. I love Sekiro, but it’s given me more technical headaches than most PC games. Still though, easily worth it for the silky smooth frame rate and mods.

@MirkoS77: yeah it's locked to 60fps. It's annoying but other than that solid port. No issues.

Game runs great on my i5 4690, 16Gb RAM and GTX970 - stays 60fps most of the time if not always as I see.

Then again the game is built for consoles so a controller is recommended.

An I5 is plenty enough for the game?

A lot of users are reporting the framerate sometimes dropping to a consistent 20 per second. It stopped happening to me when I pulled the HDMI cable that was connected to my 4K HDR TV out. I did that because I read that if the PC is connected to a display that has HDR and that display is not the primary, the game will sometimes slow to 20 fps.

Yeah, this unfortunately has been a problem since day 1. Happened to me, then I plugged both my monitors in and it works. Then it stopped. Now it's working again. Weird.

Just noticed your post above. I have a dual monitor setup. Sekiro has no issue with my second monitor. It's only when my HDR TV is detected.

It sure does, for 1080p at least.

Yeah the game runs great, its just poorly multi threaded(again), so if you want to run uncapped fps with modding, you'll want that juicy single thread performance too

From Software doesn't care about any issue that isn't on consoles. That's nothing new.
