so speedtest.com rates my download speed at over 10mbps, and my upload speed at over 1.5mbps consistently over several tests, yet i only pay for a 9mbps dl/7?? kbps ul... so what's the deal? how is this possible? no way is cox just giving a free 1.5mbps dl and doubling my upload for free... and these tests were taken while downloading 7 movies at the same time if that makes any difference. i've seen allot of people bragging about their results from speedtest.com with unrealistic numbers and i just upgraded my service today and decided to give it a shot, i tihnk this sites ratings are absolute crap, anyone have any input on that? i also used Network Magic to test my speed which gave me a 4.5mbps dl and 3.3 mbps upload, wich sounded like a realistic dl but still the upload is crazy high... how is it that all of these tests are so different and i feel so innacurate but so many people use them to go by?
nah i don't have powerboost, and i live in san diego, it's heavily populated here and most everyone in the neighborhood are college kids with several computers in each home online. and how much do you pay for 2.5mbps? here 1.5 is 20 a month and then 9 is 45 a month which is what i have?
If you don't believe it just dl a file from a good http site. I only have 5mb, so I can't say which one site will give you a full 10mb, but 2 combined should easily if you can't find one alone. Add up your kB/s and multiply by 8. Most I get is 600kB/s, which is 4800kbps, which is what I get on speed tests and a normal 95% of the advertised bw.
