Hello you PC freaks, I´m 33 years old, and i´m playing since I was 10, so I´m 23 years on the road. I´ve started using a ancient tele-game, then my folks bought an atari 2600. My first computer was a TK3000, and I had to load games using a cassete tape. My first PC was a 18 MHz turbo, with a 20 Mb HD, using 5" floppy disks.

And you?

I'm 20 right now and I've been playing PC games ever since I was 7 (1993). I started on my father's computer when he wasn't at home, my very first game being LHX. In 1999 I got my own PC and then I really started off with Duke Nukem, Red Alert, Starcraft, and the like.

My first computer was a 386/20MHz laptop which had a black and white display. It did run Wolfenstein 3D, so I suppose it was all good. Second game was Command & Conquer on my state-of-the-art Pentium 133MHz with 16MB RAM and an 850MB hard drive (1994). And from there, I've only become more addicted and forced to spend far too much on both games and hardware. Oh well; I'm not stopping anytime soon.

i'm 28, i'll be 29 in november (not anywhere close yet...). i've been playing all my life it seems. with my older cousins on their atari system back in the very early 80's (1981 iirc), then to my own coleco, and later onto playing games on commodore, to IBM clones, the 8-bit NES, and so forth.

first console was the coleco vision, played me some pong, great sports titles, haunted house, and so forth.

my first 'rig' had two 5"1/4 drives, no hard drive, 32 mb RAM, MS-DOS 3 and i used to play a lot of zaxxon, lode runner type games.

I do not think that I'm going to stop playing anytime soon, but it IS an expensive hobby that I could do without financially.

I will be 49 in October..Don't remember the actual year I started playing video games. Had an Atari, Commador, PC games, Nintendo, Saga Genesis, XBox and now back to PC games. My first computer was a Radio Shake Tandy 1000. Ended up with AMD 3200+, 2GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, 19" Wide screen Monitor..and still looking to upgrade CPU and Motherboard.

I'm 38. The first video game I played was a pong game my cousin had while visiting Germany with my parents when I was 8 years old. (it was not even out in Canada yet I believe, I could be wrong on that though.). From then on I played video games on anything my parents could afford to buy me and later I could afford to buy myself. So I guess technically, on and off, I've been playing video games for about 30 years. :)

Actually, before that, i had the hand held "merlin" and "split second" games. Merlin did not have a "screen" so to speak but split second did. So maybe it's 31 years. :D Anyone remember those handheld games?! Careful, you're about to show your age if you admit you do! :P

Actually I have been playing video games since before the 2600. I was thinking about starting a thread for old people like me and their favorite arcade games.  Mine were Asteroids, Defender, Dig Dug and Journey Escape!!  I remember as a kid going with friends to the arcade with $10 in quarters (which was like $40 in today's money!!) and playing games for HOURS!!

Obviously, I pleayed arcame games in the late 70's. When the VIC20 was launched I bought it as my first computer. From there on the C64 quickly followed. I skipped the Amiga and went directly to PC a few years after it was launched.

I've been playing games since 1990 when my dad brought home this odd little game called SimCity. A coworker of his said that his son had been enjoying it and suggested that I might, too.

As it turned out, my dad ended up enjoying the game as much as I did.

My first computer was an Apple IIe.  I used Apple's up until around 1989 when I got my first PC which was a 386.  I never touched an Apple again and never will.

Im 24 now and I started playing on my NES and Texas Instruments TI-99/4A (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TI99/4A) when I was 7 (I still have it with a fair amount of games). I made the trasition to PC when I was 8. My first PC was a 386SX, clocked at 33Mhz, 1 Mb of RAM and an 80 Mb HD (I didnt have a sound card at the time... LOL). Since then, I have always played on a PC. I only played on consoles when going to my friends house...

To all you old school guys like me, regardless of what kind of computer you had do you remember the felling you got when you got your first modem?!?!  I got a 1200 Baud Hayes Modem for my Apple IIe and remember getting on my first BBS.  Wow it was just like a feeling or total awe!!  Like I was connected to the whole world in a brand new way!!

Funny because as I type this now on a message board used by people from all over the world I don't get that feeling at all anymore.  You know because everything is connected these days.  I wonder if little kids today still get a similar feeling or if because they were born into a world were everyone and everything is already connected that it just doesn't mean anything anymore...

Probably not if you are not old enough to remember what "ATDT" means ;)

And the movie "War Games" 1983 just blew my mind as a little kid.  Thats what made me beg my parrents for a modem.  The idea that your computer could talk on the phone to another computer was just like the coolest thing in the world to me back then.

That is the first console I remember playing plus the ColecoVision and Intellivision.  Next, I moved on to SNES and SEGA mastersystem, played some apple IIe games at the same time as snes, then I got a a 286(or 386, I forget) and civilization I/colonization/wing commander/x-wing and have been a PC gamer ever since.

My biggest regret is that my parents never sprung for an amiga, I was totally envious of my friends with amigas back in the day

17 or 18 years, starting off with a Master System, then a Game Boy and a SNES.  Got my first PC about 10-11 years ago, a P100 with 8mb RAM and a 800mb HDD (It was an absolute beast of a machine).  I reckon this would be my fifth PC now.

Dear lord, now i´m feeling my age!!! I remember my first mobile, a motorola PT 900, wights 100 pounds and had 50 minutes of battery autonomy. But speaking about games, BBS´s were a dream on my country (Brasil), and I can´t tell you my emotion of being connected for the first time!! Good times playing duke nukem, maniac mansion and doom on a lan party.
