PC gamers usually get the stereotype of being a fat nerdy basement dweller. So I want to see if the gamers on this site are in shape.

I usually try to stay healthy but, my weight tends to fluctuate. At my best last year I was at 172 pounds. I'm 5'9. Right now I'm 190 and fat. I also just recently cross over into the 30 year old range... :(

I'll add a poll to make it easier.

Go to this site and enter in your info. Come back and select the BMI category you're in

I'm 144 pounds and somewhat above 1.8 meters tall.

The last and only "health problem" I had happened 9 years ago, when I was 8 years old, never had anything else other than occasionally a cough or a cold. I'd say I'm quite healthy.

My eyes are squared shape. My right arm is stronger than the left..... from using the mouse!!!!!! Surround sound has given me a sort of echo hearing like bats. My legs are numb from sitting on my arse all day. Not to mention the twitch in my eyes when I see something like a crosshair moving across my screen. Other than that, I'm fine :D

True but, people who lift weights tend to have a distorted view of themselves. I know plenty of guys who go to the gym a lot and are really strong but, they still have a lot of fat. They are in total denial of this of course. So for the most part unless you are completely rip or very slightly over normal on the BMI scale I would prefer people to just put down the number the BMI gives.

Normal weight for me. Most people think I'm a lot younger than I look. Some army boys tried to give me some crap inside a base. Then they saw my retiree ID card and apologized.

I do a lot of swimming plus basketball and cycling. I used to play a lot of soccer. But, my knees aren't what they used to be.

1m80 and 76 kg More or less the weight I should considering my body.

I do not do alot of sports, but I do alot of treking in mountains.

Physically Im fit I guess... Mentally isanother story all together.

I doubt the "pc gamer" stereotype holds alot of water, It is rare I see someone that is very overweight (atleast not any more then any other population group).

BMI isn't a very good way to determine physical health as someone who has alot of muscle will be considered obese since muscle weighs more then fat. Your body fat percentage is a better indicator of physical health women should have less then 25% while men should be below 18% to be considered fit.

I don't really get the stereotype, because every nerd I know is thin. Sometimes not healthily thin, but still thin. (some get so excited programming or gaming they skip meals) I used to not eat well like that, but now I try to eat regular healthy meals or snacks. I have a really fast metabolism though. My parents wanted me to gain more weight, so I started a weight gain program (increase calories & protein with exercise to turn those calories into muscle). After a few months of hard work, I had only gained 5 pounds. Just wasn't worth the effort. I only go to the gym twice a week, but I do regular walks with the dog most days.

I think the statement that PC gamers are commonly fat is wrong, seems to me it's the opposite, most of them are too thin due to not doing any excercise for their muscles.

i actually bodybuild on a daily basis while still having lots of free time and time to game. I don't even know my BMI, cause it not not an accurate way to measure obesity.

I'm pretty udnerweight. 175 centimeters and 60 kg i've always been skinny and underweight my whole life actually. I'm currently excersising alot running 10-15 km a week and i'm about to run my 2nd half marathon in Berlin this weekend, so i'm in pretty good shape and it feels all good to get otuside and get some fresh air for once in the day instead of playing steam games all day ;).

According to the BMI and other ridiculous charts they teach in school today - Arnold was obese the day he won his first Mr Universe contest.

Anyway - I'm 6'2" - I weigh 220, and I can carry 90 pound bundles of shingles up a two story ladder all day long in 100 degree heat.

BMI - It ought to be called BSI

i'm rather underweight. I'm 6'5" and about 155 pounds - go to the gym twice a week, if i didn't go to the gym i'd lose weight because my metabalism is so damn fast, my only means of gaining weight is building muscle mass which i lose in about a week if i don't work out.

i can eat all day long and as long as i don't do anything i'll still lose weight.

I'd say I'm healthy. I've been weight lifting since my Sophomore year of highschool, never been sick since then... I'm fairly certain that my BMI is "normal" or a little over because of my extra muscle.

I'm 21 and I'm underweight, I don't want to say what my real weight cause of ridicule but my doctor says I'm perfectly healthy, even more healthy than most people. The thinness is speculated to be hereditary because my parents and relatives were thin when they were my age.

Playing games isn't the only thing I do with my free time. I also workout 3X a week and eat pretty healthy, I used to be 210Lbs and 24% bodyfat in highscool but now I'm down to 188lbs and 19% bodyfat. I hope to get my bodyfat down to about 12%

Most probably most gamers are on the unhealthy side. I mean gaming means sitting on your ass most of the time twiddling your thumbs. Not exactly the most healthy activity. And weight really has nothing to do with it. You can be the right weight but your arteries can be full of fat due to lack of exercise. Not trying to scare anyone away from gaming or anything but just saying ;)...

What has BMI to do with health?

Marathon runners have a BMI of around 18 - clinically underweight.
Heavyweight Boxers have a BMI in the mid 30's - clinically Obese.

The BMI is bull.
