I really would like to upgrade my graphics card to go with my new 22 inch widescreen monitor. I have an new HP with a Bestec ATX 300W PSU. I'm looking into a 8800GTS and I want to get a 550-600W PSU. However, I don't know if a new PSU from newegg will fit or I would have to get a new tower and rebuild everything.  I heard that ATX PUS's are standard and any new PSU will fit but I want to make sure.

Best way to tell would be to measure the one that's in there now, and find dimensions for an ATX psu and compare.  Although most of those pre-built machines have proprietary power supplies, so you may be outta luck.

I just spoke with HP and they said that i could use any ATx power supply and I will be fine. They recommended that I don't go over 450W but I'm still going with a 550 ot 600W. They said it was not proprietary.

Definately go over 450W - so that the 8800GTS can run stable.
