Start>Run>Msconfig>In the general tab you pop in, select Diagnostic Mode. Run your adaware, spybot, and spy doctor. Should help. Then run your anti-virus program.

When your doing this, i suggest if you have a always active connection you disconnect it from the router or back of the pc, and do this without any possibility of it bringing through the connection anything else.

Google before you restart and download if you can, Security Task Manager. Run it, and look to see how many things it has infected. You should be able to find them by the red bar being high, or things named strange.

Ok then your screwed :P ......just kidding, Now do you have a Windows Install Disc? if you do the fastest way of getting rid of it is booting from the disc before loading into windows and do a full format of your hardrive which will wipe everything on the Hd. then install windows and start from scratch instead of messing hours on end finding ways to get rid of it.

i just ke3ep adaware and spybot search and destroy on my computer, windows firewall does a decent job from keeping you from downloading bad things. just need to be smart of what you download.

I remember an old virus call I think it was called NYB, well anyways the chances of the virus activing was like 1 in a 250000 and when it does it destroys the boot sector of the Hd which mean the Hd is junk and I had to be the lucky one :(04dcarraher

Or try clicking on this http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html?tag=lst-2 . This worked when I had a hang-up and hope it works for u-too. If it doesn't, it certainly won't hurt anything. I'm almost gonna guarantee it should show some improvement. Good luck.

Mcafee is a virus IMO- only difference is you pay them to slow down your system. It is best to reformat... It is the only way to be sure it is clean.
