7950 and 7970 both are tahitis while 7870 are pitcarin.
Where do you live(price vary by location, so this would help us help you)?
Do you overclock?
760 is fairly cheap and fast stock.
7950 though would be my card of choice if you overclock, vvvery low @ stock clocks, but can go shoulder to shoulder with ocing against 670 oc'd which usually cost more.
tl'dr ignore the 7870, maybe the 7870xt/tahiti le to save a few bucks. The leap to 7950 is worth it.

Depends what the pricing is, i bought my sapphire 7870 xt in january this year at 220 euro , the hd 7950 on the same pcb costed 300 euro and that's a steal.I rarely read posts or questions or see recommendations for the HD7950 3GB ; most of the time its either HD7970 or HD 7870 ; and I would really like to know where is the postion of the HD7950 in the 7000 series and in gaming in generalĀ

However i've seen on newegg now a price where the hd 7950 costs 300$ and the 7870 xt costs 260$. With rebates the 7950 is 280 and the 7870xt is 245, the 7870 xt comes with free crysis though, i say if you still need to buy crysis the 7870 xt is a much better deal.
I haven't really been able to challenge this card when it's overclocked and it overclocks big (250 mhz on core clock (25 % increase), 100 mhz on memory( 5ĀØ% increase).
When overclocking both cards the 7950 isn't much faster because the hd 7870xt overclocks better than the hd 7950 but the 7870 xt consumes more power when you overclock so high.
When both at stock the hd 7950 considerably faster.
My Twin Frozr III is silent...100% is still silent of you have good headphones/ I've only got the standard cooler on mine though, might invest in a better cooler next upgrade.[QUOTE="PCgameruk"]

7950 is a great card. Ā It's slightly faster than the 7870 XT (Tahiti LE GPU, cut-down 7900 series), and slower than the 7970/7970ghz edition. Ā The problem that the 7950 has now is the GTX 760. Ā The 760 is cheaper most of the time and faster out of the box in most games. Ā The average 7950 is faster if you do extreme overclocking. Ā

Yup.Ā The 7950 is a great card.Ā I'm running Crossfire MSI Twin Frozr III 7950's Boost editions and am really loving the performance.Ā A single 7950 is a very fast card, but the new GTX 760 is right on par with it and is easily $50 (if not a little more) cheaper. I'd honestly recommend to take a look into it and see if it doesn't interest you.Ā Either way, you'll be making a very solid choice.
I have a HIS Iceq x2 7970 it runs like a beast. Ā Sick video card for BF3 can't wait for BF4 to come out.
