everything looks awesome and will be a great gaming machine

one thing though, you might want to consider a geforce brand card because your motherboad is sli ready and if that is your thing then you can always get another card later on.  But if you plan on sticking with one card the 2900 is a good choice, well when they release better drivers from what i hear

That's true, many could say "Why not go with the 8800 GTS? It offers similar performance, for the same price or less" my answer to that is the 8800 line of cards has had 6months+ for drivers to mature, while the ATI is brand new. For all we know the 2900 XT could be right behind the heels of the GTX once it's drivers mature. I'm willing to be ATI's guinea pig in the meantime (and will openly admit that I am a wee bit of an ATI fan vs Nvidia.)

i just mentioned geforce becasue you have a sli mobo, but sli is overrated and you probably know that

I assumed he meant why not get a mobo with crossfire support? But I agree with your choice, people who can afford 2 video cards would proably start with a GTX and quad core processor. Your PSU is a little over-powered for a single hdd and videocard, but too much is better than too little :)

You're right, I've had my share of problems with PSU failing in the past (lost a 6800 GT in the process, which I had to replace with a 9800 Pro until this upgrade today) so I thought, better be safe than sorry.. and the 2900 XT is very power hungry, plus I plan to OC the CPU 2-3 years from now when it starts lagging behind in games and this will likely require extra power consumption.

That's a bit expensive for this type of configuration.

That is definately a bit pricey. If I were you, I would try and look around a little more to get the price down a bit.

I know that, and what you have priced now is still about $2,000 US, which is a bit expensive for the components that you have listed.

I know. It's still over 2000 american dollars.

I just bought a similar config with a 8800GTS and a Antec NSK6500 case for about  1100 euro (+/- 1500$ and taxes are 21% here).

Well.. you do a direct conversion, but take into account that things here (electronics and such anyway) are usually a bit more expensive here, maybe by 10% higher.

Take for example the Playstation 3:
US $599.99
CA $699.99
The PS3 in canada is 1.15 of the price of the US one, but the USD to CAD conversion as of right now is 1.06.

CPU 289$
MB 268$ P5K Deluxe Brand newP35 chipset Compatible with Penryn
RAM 200$ (DDR2-800 4-4-4-12)
Video 479.99$
HD 294$ (Fastest desktop HD)
PSU 249$
DVD-R 61$ (arguably one of the best dvd-r on the market)

At any rate.......... it might look pricey to you guys, but here in Canada you will be hard pressed to find better prices AND service than at NCIX.com.

the price seems fine... the only way to get it down would be to use multiple vendors, which would bring it back up with multiple shipping costs anyhow.
