DICE: Bad Company 2 'reaching' Uncharted 2's graphics

Upcoming FPS Battlefield Bad Company 2 is "reaching" the graphical quality set by last year's stunning PS3-exclusive Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, but it will not surpass it, developer DICE had admitted.

Uncharted 2 was my personal GOTY last year. But I don't think it quite qualifies as a graphical benchmark to which all games, all platforms should be compared. Uncharted 2's best graphical qualities are with the set piece designs. But other elements such as character models are on par with most other games, rather than surpassing them. Amazing looking game, especially for a console title. But seeing how this is posted on a pc gamer forum, I don't think pc gamers could consider its graphics to be benchmark material.

Sigh...welcome to modern PC gaming. Apparently all the devs have forgotten that Crysis exists and are instead hellbent on making high-end hardware requirements for their games via terrible optimization.

true, but generally with multiplayer-centric shooters, sacrfices in graphics quality need to be made.

running a visually advanced singleplayer game is one thing, but when you add 32+ players, internet, downloading, uploading, etc to the mix with multiplayer, a lot of systems get taxed.

Uncharted is an extremely beautiful game on console, even to PC standards in many cases, and with (hopefully) higher-resolution textures it should be a beautiful game on PC.

tbh I dont really care any more.

It'd be nice if they would focus on gameplay.

if the suckers on console are happy with Uncharted 2-like graphics, fine, PC gamers have, and hopefully will always, appreciate gameplay above all else.

I admit visuals come in second for me in terms of requirement, but its a distant second.

Uncharted 2 is an insanely beautiful game. Its not just about the amount of pixels on the screen.

idk, i mean i think bad company 2 will look better, but even so, bad company 2 has alot larger environments(correct me if im wrong).. so that is also a contributing factor.. i

But according to various reccomend requirements from various games in the past, i would say that with the reccomended you can play on high, it seems that in this era, games are so unoptimized that we decented on medium=reccomended!!
