As i saw nobody had made this topic yet i decided to start the discussion, as every one knows Far Cry 2 and Crysis are gonna be quite popular on PC gaming specially for their graphics, so i have made a list about good things bout each (i haven't found anything wrong about them)

Crysis

The Nanosuit (of course)

Sci-fi game, aliens, Zero-G ship,etc

Comin out on 2007

Far Cry 2

Open ended game (more than Crysis?)

Cool fire physics as seen on some screenshots

Has more time for development

I have only written those I remember and make them different (I'm not gonna say both have the word "Cry" written...) Id rather get Crysis for the alien stuff and all that, but Far Cry 2 looks as good as it and i haven't played Far Cry either so i don't think ill miss something on the story line.

So... write sth please

I think crysis will be farcry, with graphics. So far cry 2 will be... farcry with graphcis. Thus making them the same thing.

Indeed, I think Crysis will be the superior game. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

For those that want to see more about FC2; the PC Gamer October 07 issue has an interesting article. Seems like the game will be a mix between Far Cry, STALKER and Oblivion's open world.

When I read about FarCry 2 I thought it sounded breathtakingly amazing. But after thinking about it, a bet hardly any of the good groundbreaking ideas will actually make it to release. I mean people are going on about how the game is better than CryEngine 2, but I doubt it. I mean judging by R6: Vegas, I get the impression Ubi Montreal struggled to find the start button, let alone code a game, or make a port. We will have to wait and see but FarCry 2 hasn't had a longer dev process, has it? Crysis has had 4 years or so.

Once I see some real screenshots of Far Cry 2, I'll judge the graphics... right now Crysis looks a lot more promising, given Ubisoft's recent PC track record... :?

That preview made me start looking forward to the game. I think trying something... if not new, at least totally different... is a great tack to try.

I'm not really into futuristic sci-fi because there's so much of that in gaming and films that it's almost its own cliche, so I might lean more towards Far Cry 2, however, both games look absolutely amazing and I might get Crysis just to satisfy my craving until FC 2 comes out. just hope my crappy geforce 8500 gt will be enough to make that beast look half-way decent.

STOP IT

DON'T COMPARE THEM

far cry 2 will come out 6 months, maybe 8 ... and mostly likely will end up coming out 1 year after crysis ...

dont compare them like if they were really DIRECT competition !!

my guess (if the game turns bad) is that ubisoft might go too much in a "stalker" way .. where you run around and talk to people for random/useless/meaningless quests ...

and ! ... i trust more Crytek for their multiplayer on that game !

How is this even a discussion? Crysis is gonna completely pwn Far Cry 2. Anyone who has been keeping close tabs knows that Crysis is going to be VERY open ended, and have the best graphics of any game of all time. Can Far Cry 2 catch up in 6 months? Not likely given Ubisoft's track record compared with Crytek's.

This is Ubisoft we're talking about, the chances of the game being exclusive to the PC are slim to none, another reason why I prefer Crytek.

Man we are not talking bout that game, though it will be good its gameplay has nothing to do with Crysis's, its maybe more fun to play on mp or it may have better graphics than Crysis or FC2 (I seriously doubt so) but it wont have even an average-good single player. Mark my words.

Back to the topic, Far Cry 2 has the HUGE andvantage of being a sequel to great game (wich i have not played), a lot of ppl will simply buy it for that. Crytek is gonna have to make a very BIG effort to keep it up.

Am I the only one who thinks "open-ended" games are overrated? I want pure EPIC material of my game...not boring, going around the world killing who you like.

You know...EPIC gameplay...like RPGs used to bring.

I don't think consoles will be able to run FarCry 2 tbh, in the dev interview the were very explicit about making it a PC only title and doing lots of cool stuff they can only do on the PC.

Just because it's called Farcry does not mean it's team is even vaguely related to the old Farcry team (ie Crytek). This is simply an attempt to cash in on the IP. Heck, the screen shots arn't even impressive and simply shout "doctored"!

IMO FC2 should be compared with Warhound cuz both games present the same genere - open ended, realistic (quite) first person action shooters. Crysis will be a completly diffrent game scf-action shooter, this little aspect changes the whole gameplay. The fact is that that all three of those games have huge and destractable enviorments and awesome DX10 gfx, and physics just like the other 2. (check out this: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23619.html )

Author of this subject said that FC2 has nice fire, wind and etc physics. remember that the very first game using this feature was CoJ on Chrome engine 2007. Warhound is being developed by the same great team(richer in exp. and ideas) on Chrome engine 2008, so dynamic fire and particles will be used in this game. Both FC2 and Warhound are about mercenaries, but FC2 shows us one huge level in Africa(up to 50 sq km) and Warhound has multiple enviorments all over the globe. You are free to choose when ,how and with what. On the other hand FC2 has got a living world just like in great Stalker-how much of this work, we dont know.

No one can say that any of this games is a rip-off, they came in their own time with their own original feautres.

PS: updated Warhound features:

Platforms: PC (Vista and XP), Xbox 360
Release date: TBD 2008

Warhound is an open-ended First-Person Shooter (FPS) set in modern times. In the game, you will play as an ex-Delta Force operative, now working for the world`s largest military company. In Warhound, you`ll complete a variety of challenging missions in battlefields around the world, while later uncovering a massive terrorist plot that targets the United States and thousands of its citizens.

Warhound focuses on complete freedom of choice, and as such, you will have unprecedented opportunities to pick your missions, weapons, battlefield tactics and vehicles. You will select mission start times, insertion/extraction points and the types (land, sea or air) of insertion. You will also need to keep on top of your training, finances and position in the highly-competitive mercenary market to ensure you receive only the most select missions. More successful missions equal more money, which can be used to buy new equipment and weapons for future jobs. Warhound`s innovative First Person Perspective (FPP) cover system will allow you to bring the battle to your enemies in ways you`ve never dreamed of before.

Key features include:

Unprecedented freedom of choice in an FPS -
- Tackle missions in the order you choose, create your own path through each mission`s objectives
- Plan your tactics and equipment load-outs
- Buy satellite photos, recon data and other intelligence about the battlefield situation
- Pick a deployment time and location, then pay for the means of getting in and getting out

Character development -
- Train your character in several skills, including climbing, repair, and weapons proficiency
- Skills are earned and developed as in the real world - for ex., shooting ranges improve accuracy, running tracks and climbing walls boosts cover and movement skills
- Develop and use skill specializations to gain advantages in combat; new skills offer fresh opportunities for advancement through the mercenary ranks, and new ways to complete missions

FPP cover system -
- For the first time in FPP/FPS games, you'll be able to use the innovative cover system, which will forever change your way of looking at FPS games. Use items, trees, buildings and other elements of the environment to hide from the torrent of bullets. Shoot at your enemies from behind safe covers.

Detailed and realistic economy -
- Earn money for each successful mission and by selling materials picked up on the battlefield
- Use your newly earned riches to buy weapons, ammo and new gadgets
- Invest in learning new skills

Constantly changing battlefields -
- Every mission is laid out differently each time you play it, enemy units take up new positions, post new patrols, lay traps in different locations, set up ambushes, etc.
- Enemy A.I. takes into account how you`re playing the mission, and counters with unique strategies and tactics

Interactive, destructible game environments -
- A fully interactive environment means plenty of surprises for the enemy - destroy buildings they are hiding in, set villages on fire to "smoke them out", cause avalanches and knock down trees to clear your line of fire or to create obstacles for the enemy and cover for you

Rivalry with other mercenaries -
- Climb up the career ladder and increase your reputation among the elite mercenaries of the world
- Successful players will earn prestige among their peers, which leads to better and more lucrative contracts

They're both going to be great. I can't pick one because I love the whole Sci-Fi thing that Crysis is doing, but Far Cry 2 sounds awesome already with it's whole open ended empire tackling in Africa thing.

I am also sure they well both be good, though I think Crysis is getting more hype currently, hence likely to receive more criticism and be expected to fill bigger boots then Far Cry 2.

I also don't undderstand why people are saying Ubisoft is bad? I personally love Ubisoft, more then EA. They released Brother in Arms, SPlinter Cell, Rainbow SIx and Graw, all fantastic games. Yeah, they are all multiplatform as Ubisoft tends to do, but good games regardless. I was wondering what they did? Rainbos Sis Vegas ran fine for me? I still play it today!
