No platforms have been announced yet. It will most likely be multiplatform.Â
[QUOTE="EchoFlame"]aw man... theres no way my PC can handle that i was really hoping that it would be out for consolesBounceDKHandle what? Trailer didn't show any gameplay only a bunch of pre-rendered stuff.
Say what? Most of it looked in-engine to me. And to tell you the truth, it didn't look nearly as good as I was expecting. More like an upgraded version of the CoD2/3 engine. Oh well, gameplay is all that matters in the end... Â

yeah, i was gonna say the same thing pretty much, people seem to not make a definitional distinction between pre-rendered like a video and scripted like an in-engine cutscene
it wasn't full blown gameplay footage, but most of it was definitely in-engine
as for the updated engine thing, yeah, totally - the original cod ran in the quake 3 engine - and call of duty 2 was pretty much an improved rebuild of the q3 engine rather than anything new (it really had a quake 3 feel to it) - wouldn't surprise me if cod4 is a re-rebuild of that ancient engine (that was itself mostly derived from the quake 2 engine, too!)
there's probably gonna be a ton of decade old code in there! it looked good to me though, but yeah, it's no unreal 3.0 or cryengine 2.0 - it'll probably run at high settings just fine on 1 or 2 year old pcs, maybe even older
While I'm not excited for the game, I am interested. I just hope they can make the game as good as the first because the second definitely isn't. Maybe it was a one time deal.

Lol i hope it stays that way. they get cod3 we get cod4 lets make it fair =D?Rumor had it that COD4 would be released on the PC because COD3 wasn't and at the time it was making all the PC people happy since the PC made COD as big as it was. (however the consoles did their part a great deal too)
Some of the footage from the trailer looked as if it was in game for sure (as it was unfinished, had little or no lighting and was a bit rough around the edges) but quite a lot of it was pre-rendered. Still, would be nice to see large scale assaults done on a modern context, I always thought the idea of COD with modern day weapons would be sweet.Â
COD is like a crazy action movie, it is a lot of run a gun and all about the fun, that is what makes it great! I look forward to seeing more.
Yay! Another game where Russians are the bad guys! -_-
Â
Graphics look great though.

Don't know where you got that from. The voice only says something to the effect of "we've been betrayed," "we'll show them what we can do," "we aren't afraid." And "Every WAR is a lie" in the end. Looked like US vs MEC (for lack of better term) vs maybe Russia.

No, Infinity Wards always uses in-game engine cut-scenes. And holy crap, how many games still use pre-rendered cutscenes? lol This is next-generation too, step up your standards.

It's a pitty they're leaving the WW2 era unfinished with no German, Italian or ANZAC campaigns included. Hopefully in the new game you will get to play as both sides instead of the hollywood "good guys vs bad guys" that they love so much but dosn't exist in reality. IW is quite good at cliche's anyway (COD soviet campaign get shot for retreating lol guess they've never read a history book!" so they might do a good job anyway.Flanker15
I guess you're the one who's never read a history book. The fact of the matter remains, Soviet soldiers were shot if they retreated. Stalin himself famously said "it takes more courage to retreat in the Soviet army than advance", so there ya go. And WWII was all about good guys vs. bad guys, except for Neo-Nazis who think otherwise. Don't ever try to make the argument that the Germans, Italians and Japanese weren't the bad guys. You REALLY need to read a history book, since your view on the matter is so wrong, it would take me a week to try and straighten it out.Â

you're right about the Red Army's tenacity. but i have to disagree on your opinion that WW2 is a conflict between good and evil. history has taught us that, in essance, no war can be judged -- not through victory or defeat, not through moral values, and definitely not through the keyhole of dichotomy.
WW2 was a tragedy, of course, and the axis countries should be held accountable, as most of them they already are. all these are facts. but nobody can guarantee that, in the midst of brutal killing, any particular party represents justice. think of the executions, rapings, theft, racism, and oppression on civilians perpetrated by BOTH parties. i'm not saying that, because of this, the Alliance was as evil as the fascists. that's not true: the Alliance's cause was just. but to me, something as complicated as politics and history cannot be summarized into an icon. when you are coming up with conclusions like "WW2 was ALL about good vs bad", you lose that objectivity seperating reasons from fendamentalism.

But we're not talking about the actions of individual soldiers, but rather the factions/countries involved. When one side is intent on taking over Europe (and indeed, much of the world) and killing off every minority and ethnic group they can find, and the other side is trying to stop this from happening, I think it's fairly safe to say that WWII was all about "good guys vs. bad guys".
Â
I'm new to the argument, but I'm having a really hard time seeing how the holocaust and its perpetrators and supporters could be considered anything but pure evil. I would say that you could claim that most wars cannot be classified as 'good vs. evil'...but if there were ever a war where that classification applied, it would be WWII. There was not much good in what the Nazis were doing, and Japan was just in it to capitalize on our perceived weakness. Sadly for them and happily for us, they were badly mistaken. The Axis powers had no justification for what they did, and the Allied powers had every justification for doing what they did. If that's not good vs. evil, I don't know what is.theragu40
