Maybe. I have purchased from similar sites with succes before, although not this specific one. As far as I understand, they purchase their keys from countries where they are cheaper, such as Russia or Asia and then resell them to first world countries for profit (which is, as I've come to understand, perfectly legal). One I remember as being quite solid (even though I was incredibly sceptical at first) was cdkeyhouse or something like that. Oddly enough, it seems to be spreading as 2-3 of these sort of sites have opened up in Denmark.

I thought the guy was going to ask if he could trust gamespot... well the answer is no. lol And for this other website that sells key, if you ask the question, then you know the answer. Sure you're going to get a key and it's going to work, but a scam is all about trust, if you trust this website and some day someone uses your credit card without you knowing... it'll just make one more place to suspect and chances are you'll never find out exactly who made it. Not buying from this website and only buying from trusted sources just lowers the chances of this happening.

Usually if I ask myself that question then I automatically know that I shouldn't. Better safe than sorry. If you really want to know if its legit or not I suggest asking other people that have already used the service and see their feedback, or google it and see if anyone has praised or complained about it recently.

As mentioned, these sites buy up cheaper keys from specific regions were the publisher felt the normal price for a game would be too high for the local market to support it, and then turn around and sell them to people in other parts of the world for a profit.

It's not illegal to purchase them in most cases, but the publisher might seek to sue the resellers, btu that wouldn't affect you. The issue with these keys, however, are that they are sometimes tied to that original terriotry. So you won't be able to unlock them in the U.S for example, or if you do unlock it, it might have some other limitations, like being unable to access U.S version of the DLC, etc.

Personally, It's not worth it. Wait until the game is at a price point that you are willing to pay in your area. There's a Stema sale coming up in a couple of months. I'm sure Xcom will be at that same price point or even lower on Steam.

If you asked on the SPUF you would get lots of horror story scenario answers where you account ends up disabled for using a VPN which is against steam TOS. However I have never heard of this actually happening and am extremely skeptical that it is a possible outcome. Still, it's clearly breaking TOS so I can't really condone or advise it. A calculated risk on your part I guess.

And for $20 is it really worth it?

My gamekey stopped working after a month. i emailed them and they gave me another gamekey (probably because they knew i was still in time to chargeback funds). same thing happened after 6weeks when i could no longer ask for a refund through paypal. tried to email them but they will not respond. they just took my money and ran away. avoid like plague!

I've had mixed results with sites like these, sometimes they are fine, but I've gotten a keygen key from one once.

I try to avoid them now.

Edit: Old thread.

CD Key sites are generally pretty safe, so I'd say I recommend them. Try to use ones that allow you to use Paypal.

That's what i did.. after 6 weeks the gamekey stopped working. paypal only protects you for 40days.. avoid www.gamekeys4all.com . steam or the publisher will not be able to help you.

Just make sure their accepted method of payment is paypal. That way they never get your card details so you really have nothing to worry about. Although I would recommend to check if the keys are region locked because if they are then you'll need a VPN to activate it on steam.
