Buying a New Notebook

sorry if it been posted. I search and didn't find anything specific.

I'm looking for laptop mostly for downloading music and school. All I ask is for good ram and good HD space. My budget is $1000(tops). Any suggestions where it would be a good place to start? I did my preliminary research, but I don't know if it a good deal or not. I was looking at a HP 17" 4GB ram 320gb HD Intel centrino T5800 for about $1000. I don't know if it a good deal but that what I'm interested in. I don't like AMD processors, so skip that option.

Any help suggestions will be appreciated.

PS: HP or Dells is what I prefer but would not mind buying something different.

I really don't play PC games. I only play on consoles. The vid card is not that important
